We Tried Bacardi's New Real Rum Canned Cocktails. Here's How It Went.

Every summer a new batch of fruity seltzers, lemon-kissed beers, or other perfectly splendid seasonal beverages make their way to the masses — and beaches, bars, and restaurants. 'Tis the season, and Bacardi released a new line Real Rum Canned Cocktails. We took up the honorable challenge of trying them all — and here's how it went.

Inside a package of six, you get three flavors: a strawberry mojito, mango mojito, and your basic yet always satisfying traditional mojito. Bacardi also has a piña colada canned cocktail for your tasting pleasure (sold separately), which will really allow your tastebuds to run wild — in all the right ways, of course. Though not everyone is enamored with the canned cocktail craze, Bacardi's sparkling beverages just might change the way you view them. Everyone's tastebuds are different, so one person's favorite mojito might not satisfy another's thirst, but we're here to say there's surely a flavor for everyone. So pull up your favorite beach chair, throw on some sunglasses and sunscreen, and get ready to rock the summer with what might possibly be your new favorite beverages (responsibly, that is).

Bacardi's new Real Rum Canned Cocktails scream summertime

Thanks to its "Move Like It's Summer" campaign, Bacardi is bringing four refreshing flavors to its already robust lineup of cocktails in a can. What's inside them? Pure goodness. And 5.9% alcohol per can (355mL), accompanied by Bacardi's delicious rum. In terms of actual ingredients and nutritional elements, information has yet to be made available. However, it's important to note that each flavor is gluten-free. Each can also feature real rum, natural flavors, and no artificial sweeteners. What's not to love about that? For all it's worth, each flavor also gives off serious summertime vibes, which is essentially the theme of these real rum canned cocktails.

"We wanted to celebrate that spontaneous, carefree and liberated feeling that comes so naturally with the summer season," said Laila Mignoni, Global Head of Brand Marketing Communications for Bacardi rum, in a press release provided to Mashed. "We were able to capture that sentiment through all the spot's creative elements, colorful transitions, and of course, the music, which really shined through with a huge thanks to talented directing duo, Cliqua. Their strong background in music was the perfect accompaniment to the upbeat campaign we envisioned."

On top of the four wonderful flavors we tasted, Bacardi also has existing hot-weather flavors like Bahama Mama, Rum Punch, and Sunset Punch (which will be available as a standalone four-pack).

How much do Bacardi's new Real Rum Canned Cocktails cost – and where can you buy them?

The piña colada and Sunset Punch flavors (we didn't have the pleasure of trying Sunset Punch) will be available in four-packs of 355-milliliter cans for a suggested retail price of $11.99 in liquor stores and select grocery stores nationwide, a Bacardi representative stated.

As for the new mojito variety six-ppack, which includes the Mango Mojito, Strawberry Mojito, and Mojito, Bacardi said it will be available for purchase in select markets for a suggested retail price of $16.99. When doing the math, that comes out to less than $3 per can, which is a fairly affordable price.

And if those price points don't please you, perhaps this message from Bacardi will: "Bacardi is all about doing what moves you, and there is no better time to adopt that mindset than summer," said Ned Duggan, Global Senior Vice President for Bacardi rum, in a press release provided to Mashed. "We believe in keeping that spirit alive year-round, but it's always exciting for Bacardi when summer rolls around, since that's when people are really looking to break free of the winter funk, get out and spend time with loved ones."

Believe us, the mojito, strawberry mojito, mango mojito, and piña colada can varieties will break you out of that sluggish winter funk.

Mojito

If you're a fan of rum (raises hand), then there's nothing quite as refreshing as a summertime mojito, especially when the rays are shining down and you're catching up with your closest confidantes. As for the Bacardi canned mojito cocktail, well, it hits the spot — it tastes like a classic mojito, but it's not overloaded with sugar. We understand that some people crave a very sweet mojito, but for us, finding a perfect balance of flavors is magic. This traditional mojito checks all the boxes. The best part? You don't have to spend time making it, as it comes in a can, just waiting to be popped open.

At 5.9% alcohol per 355-milliliter can, warm weather won't be the only thing calling your name this summer. Though we encourage rum and cocktail lovers to try all the flavors, if you fancy a classically flavored mojito, then this should satisfy your cravings.

Strawberry mojito

We're just going to come right out and say it: The strawberry mojito in a can wasn't our favorite flavor. This drink has a strong — and we do mean strong — burst of lime. And, for better or worse, the strawberry flavor is more subtle. This beverage could use more sugar, but the carbonation level is just right. That said, each sip seemingly gets better and better, as it takes time for your palate to catch up with the burst of flavors swirling in sparkling water and rum.

This drink also contains 5.9% alcohol, so though you're kicking back with an adult beverage with a slightly weaker content than, say, an old fashioned, just know that each one will definitely add up. All the same, whether you enjoy Bacardi rum, mojitos, strawberry-infused beverages, or all three, this could be your favorite flavor out of Bacardi's new summer lineup. We just liked some of the other flavors more.

Mango mojito

Mango is the flavor that keeps on giving, especially when Bacardi rum joins the party (or glass). Bacardi's mango mojito cocktail is flooded with a delicious mango flavor and although it's still a bit strong on the lime, it's overall very refreshing. Mango might be a marvelous addition to, say, a margarita, but after tasting this drink, we're convinced that mango and Bacardi rum are a match made in tropical heaven. The one-two punch of citrus and mango transport you directly to the beach.

Like the other flavors, Bacardi's mango mojito consists of 5.9% alcohol, natural flavors, and sparkling water. Between the mango mojito and the piña colada (coming up next), it's a toss-up for the best Bacardi Real Rum Canned Cocktail, though, admittedly, you may prefer one of the other two flavors depending on how you prefer your drinks. The mango mojito might incorporate the ideal mango sweetness, but all the varieties are enjoyable and therefore drinkable.

Piña Colada

Piña coladas can be enjoyed during any season, but, let's face it, there's something special about diving into one on the beach or during vacation — as long as warm temperatures are present. In fact, we're certain piña coladas were put on this planet for the sole purpose of getaways and nice weather. Yet now you can skip the shakers and countless steps it takes to concoct one and simply open a fridge or cooler, pull on the tab, and dive into a very good piña colada. If you desire a strong coconut flavor (that's pretty much what you sign up for when ordering a piña colada), then this is the Bacardi canned cocktail beverage for you. Like the other drinks, the carbonation factor really adds something exceptional to this cocktail.

Although we believe the best cocktails are the ones that are flooded with quality ingredients, natural flavors, and made with love, Bacardi hit it out of the park with all of its Real Rum Canned Cocktails. Ultimately, all four flavors bring something unique to the table. Each one is just as refreshing as the last, and you'll just have to try them to see which flavor you enjoy the most. But the piña colada is *chef's kiss* oh-so-sweet.
