The Pasta Queen Leaves The Country Over TikTok's Ice Cream Pasta

There's nothing quite as satisfying as a really, really good sweet and salty food combination. You have the controversial sweet pineapple on top of a savory pizza, the classic nostalgia of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and the comfort of dipping warm, salty french fries into a cold, creamy, sweet milkshake. So, why exactly does this combination work? Author of "TASTE: Surprising Stores and Science About Why Food Tastes Good" Barb Stuckey compared sweet and salty food combinations to "hearing beautiful music while sniffing rose petals: two positive sensory stimuli," per Gizmodo.

Stuckey also said that our body has a "built-in craving" for salt and sugar since our body needs both to function. So, it's clear that a lot of sweet and savory food combinations do work, but what about ice cream and pasta? Popular TikToker The Pasta Queen recently reacted to another TikTok where a couple places a whole tub of ice cream and other sweet, chocolatey toppings on a plate of cooked pasta, making a dessert pasta of sorts. The ice cream pasta has The Pasta Queen so upset that she left the country over it.

The Pasta Queen cried in Italian about it

After seeing the crime that is ice cream pasta, The Pasta Queen, whose real name is Nadia Caterina Munno packed her luggage, "cried" in Italian in her car, and flew home to Italy, per her TikTok. She captioned her video, "For Nonna's sake don't do this at home, or anywhere else for that matter!!" and fellow TikTokers agreed in the comments. One user wrote, "I'm not even Italian but I feel offended," and another commented, "I'll cry in Italian with you. That was hard to watch." Thankfully, there's a completely reasonable explanation for the ice cream pasta that made The Pasta Queen leave the country.

The TikTok that the Pasta Queen reacted to was originally posted by a TikToker making a special Buddy the Elf holiday meal kit from Hello Fresh, which is a popular meal delivery service. In a TikTok from Hello Fresh, the company revealed their special dessert pasta kit that was inspired by the Christmas comedy movie "Elf" and was available to order on December 5, 2022 for a limited time. The Buddy the Elf kit included pasta and sugary toppings but no ice cream. So, it seems that @msshiandmrhe put their own spin on the meal kit by adding some ice cream, but it was too much for The Pasta Queen to handle.
