How Many Restaurants Does Buddy Valastro Actually Own?

Long before popular baking shows made the term "celebrity baker" mainstream, TLC's own Buddy Valastro was the king of the kitchen that the silver screen couldn't get enough of. Debuting in April 2009, Valastro's cake-themed reality show followed the baker and his large Italian family as they managed Carlo's Bakery, the family's well-known Hoboken, New Jersey-based cake shop.

While Carlo's Bakery initially started with just one shop back in 1910, the business changed hands in 1964 when it was purchased by Valastro's father (via Carlo's Bakery). Since then, Valastro and his family have taken the company from a single location to a nationwide brand, an accomplishment Valastro attributes to his team's dedication to customer service and the chain's signature cakes (per Comcast). In addition to multiple Carlo's locations, the family has also opened several spin-off brands to sell their famous confections, including PizzaCake and Carlo's Bakery Express ATM.

But just how many Carlo's locations do the Valastros actually own? It's certainly safe to say that the bakery has grown astronomically from its humble Hoboken roots.

Carlo's Bakery goes international

Even though long-time Cake Boss fans may associate Carlo's Bakery with the Valastro family's original Hoboken shop, the family actually operates 12 of the locations nationwide, according to the bakery's official website. The chain offers cake lovers as far south as McAllen, Texas the chance to chow down on one of their cream-filled cannolis. In addition to the existing 12 locations, the chain is set to open its 13th store in the hustle and bustle of Times Square (via Eater New York).

Buddy Valastro is also the owner of Carlo's Bakery Express ATM, a chain of vending machines offering customers pieces of Carlo's Bakery's famous cakes at the press of a button. The chain began with 12 original locations in Las Vegas, but has since expanded north of the U.S. with a whooping 13 locations spread out across Canada, including five locations in Toronto's Pearson International Airport. In addition to his Canadian cake ATMs, Valastro also operates two Carlo's Bakery locations in Canada, and offers shipping across the nation on several popular cakes from the Carlo's Bakery Canada website.

Fine dining with the Cake Boss

As if an empire of American-based and international Carlo's Bakery locations weren't enough, Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro also owns three sit-down restaurants in the heart of Las Vegas. Though all three of Valastro's restaurants vary in their style of dining, they are all inspired by the New Jersey food scene. The most well know of Valastro's Vegas establishments is PizzaCake, a pizza joint the company designed to be reminiscent of classic pizzerias found in New Jersey (via PizzaCake). According to PizzaCake's website, the restaurant is also the home of the first-ever Carlo's Bakery Express ATM.

The Boss Cafe is another one of Valastro's eateries designed to transport guests from the Las Vegas strip to the family's beloved Garden State. The cafe puts an upscale twist on New Jersey-style delis and offers a variety of gourmet pizzas and sandwiches, such as this delicious-looking caprese focaccia on the store's Instagram.

Valastro's latest business venture is his fine dining-inspired Italian-American restaurant, Buddy V's Ristorante. From classics such as cheesy garlic bread to grilled salmon and fettuccine alfredo, the restaurant's menu features options from gourmet dining to an authentic homestyle New Jersey meal.
