Reddit Is Not Impressed With Costco Food Court's Sippy Cup Lids
There are a lot of reasons to love the Costco food court. One of the biggest reasons has to do with the incredible deals you can find there, highlighted by the $1.50 all-beef hot dog and 20-ounce soda combo that Costco's CFO asserts will remain that price in perpetuity (via CNBC).
But that's not the only meal you can score on a shoestring budget in the Costco food court. The pizza is also dirt cheap, costing only $9.95 for an 18-inch pizza or $1.99 a slice (per Fast Food Menu Prices). And sure, there is a targeted marketing strategy behind why Costco pizza is so cheap and where it's located in the store, but if you're hungry after shopping and have already spent a lot of money, you're not likely to care too much about that logic. While Costco food court fans generally rave about the low menu prices, it is not without its flaws. For example, Redditors have been voicing displeasure over the food court's leaky sippy cup lids.
Redditors are livid over lids
A Reddit user ignited some spirited conversation on the r/Costco forum when they posted a photo of a soda cup from the Costco food court and asked, "What's everyone's opinion of the sippy cup lids?" Most commenters were not impressed, with one complaining that the lids come off easily and are hard to put back on the cup. Another noted that if there is even the slightest bit of damage to the lid that it won't stay attached. A number of other frustrated Costco customers described the lids as "flimsy" and poor quality, with a lid that doesn't completely seal and tends to spill liquid onto clothing.
Others expressed that while not perfect, the lids are a more suitable replacement for plastic or paper straws. One person even suggested the prospect of Costco's food court selling reusable Kirkland logo cups that you could bring in and fill each time you bought a soda. Referencing the $1.50 meal deal, another user said the cup lids are inconsequential because "I'm just here for the hot dog." So, whether you love or hate the sippy cup lids, at least the $1.50 hot dog and soda deal makes it easier to swallow. Just don't forget to grab a few napkins.
