Over 27% Of People Agree That This Fast Food Restaurant Has The Best Salad

When you think of fast food, you likely think of juicy burgers, crispy fries, and frosty milkshakes, i.e. you likely aren't thinking of health food. However, with more and more people concerned about the rising obesity epidemic, many fast-food chains have begun offering healthier options. McDonald's has the Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Starbucks has the Sous Vide Egg Bites, and Burger King has the Impossible Whopper (made with a meatless Beyond burger patty). You can also often opt to swap your usual fat- and sodium-filled side of fries for a side salad or fresh fruit at a lot of places.

Most major chains also now have an array of fresh salads on their menus. But of all the ones out there, which one is the best (and the tastiest)? Mashed polled over 650 people on which fast-food restaurant has their favorite salad: McDonald's, Wendy's, Chick-fil-A, Burger King, Subway, or "other." Here's which chain you should go to the next time you're craving something lighter at the drive-thru.

When it comes to salads, Wendy's is where it's at

Of all the major chains, Wendy's came in at number one, with over 27% of survey respondents saying it has the best salads. We aren't too surprised, given the wide variety of salad options at the popular chain. Some of them could even be labeled as gourmet, like the Parmesan Chicken Caesar Salad, the Southwest Avocado Chicken Salad, and the Taco Salad. As for which one is the best of the best, however? Women's Health reported the healthiest Wendy's salad is the Apple Pecan Chicken Salad, thanks to its healthy fats from the nuts and cheese and hearty protein from the grilled chicken.

Wendy's wasn't the winner by much, however. The chain just narrowly beat out Chick-fil-A, which received 27.13% of the votes (compared to 27.59% for Wendy's). In third place was Subway with nearly 18% of votes, followed by McDonald's with 12%. "Other" (which included write-ins like Zaxby's and Panera) received about 11% of votes, while Burger King came in last with just over 4%.
