How Much Employees Really Make At Sprouts Farmers Market

Over the last decade or so, you may have noticed a surge in healthier grocery stores popping up nationwide. From Whole Foods to Trader Joe's, it seems like everywhere you turn, there are options for healthier shopping that didn't exist previously. Amongst the wave of newer stores offering more natural options is Sprouts Farmer's Market; its first supermarket opened in 2002, and the official website notes that it's "all of the very best parts of a real farmers market under one roof, open every day of the week."

Though only two decades old, the Phoenix, Arizona-headquartered market has successfully grown to operate more than 340 stores throughout the nation. In fact, according to the Phoenix Business Journal, Sprouts "put up record earning numbers" in 2020 despite the ongoing pandemic's effect on the economy, with a 15 percent increase of sales when compared to 2019. With that impressive jump in earnings (which the site has listed as $287 million against a $6.5 billion revenue), one can only assume that pay is high for their "knowledgeable and friendly team members," right? Depending on who you ask, the answer could be yes.

Store managers at Sprouts get paid over $60,000 per year

If you're looking to land a job at what Forbes described as both one of "America's Best Employers By State" in 2020 and one of 2019's "Best Employers for New Grads," then you'd be happy to know that pay is pretty good for many of the positions offered at Sprouts. According to Indeed, cashiers, deli and grocery associates, and both produce and bakery clerks make around the same amount, averaging anywhere between $11.08 to $11.38 per hour. If you get promoted to the lead cashier position, however, you can expect to make an average hourly wage of $12.59.

For those that are qualified to hold a management position, Indeed noted that supervisors average around $14.04 an hour, while assistant managers land at about $14.89. Service managers, on the other hand, average about $42,701 per year or — when broken down to an hourly wage — around $22.25 an hour, while managers make $47,377 yearly. If that sounds like a good amount of money to rake in per year working for a grocery chain, then you'll be happy to know that store managers actually make an average of $69,552 annually.

As always, these pay scales can differ depending on a number of factors including experience, location, whether the employee is part-time or full-time, and more. Whatever the factors are in your life though, just knowing that Sprouts isn't shorting their workers on a good starting pay is enough to consider applying.
