Over One-Third Of People Think This Gas Station Has The Best Food

Whether you're starting off on a long road trip or simply commuting to and from work, chances are high you'll have to stop at a gas station at some point to fuel up. And chances are even higher that you won't just be fueling up your car — you'll also be fueling up your body. While gas stations and their attached convenience stores are hardly gourmet dining options, they can be a mecca of greasy yet delicious warm food (think: hot dogs, pizza, and nachos) along with snacks galore (chips, cookies, and the like).

Of all of the thousands of gas stations across the country, however, which one has the best food? To find out, Mashed polled over 500 people in the U.S. on their favorite spot for on-the-go eats. Between 7-Eleven's taquitos, Royal Farms' fried chicken, and Sheetz' subs, there was one gas station that earned the number one spot by a landslide, capturing over a third of the votes.

People love the food at 7-Eleven

According to the poll, 7-Eleven has the best gas station food, with over 35 percent of respondents dubbing it their favorite. As the world's largest convenience store, with over 70,000 locations, 7-Eleven has been serving up hot and tasty treats for 93 years, according to a press release from the retailer. In 2020, one 7-Eleven store was opened every 3.5 hours. Some of the most popular foods on the menu at 7-Eleven include the crowd-favorite taquitos, the pizza, and the Big Bite hot dogs.

As for how the other gas stations fared? Second place, with 17 percent of the votes, was the "other" category, which included write-ins like Speedway and QuikTrip. Wawa was next, with 16 percent of the votes, followed by Sheetz with 11 percent. Some 10 percent of people chose Casey's as the best. Both Royal Farms and Cumberland Farms tied for last, with each receiving only 4 percent of votes.
