Here's What Chef Andre Rush Really Eats In A Day
Meet the chef who prides himself as much on his culinary talent as his strength. Known as "The Jacked Chef," Andre Rush has a long list of accolades behind his name. To start, he's a military combat veteran, having served 23 years in the U.S. Army. He was deployed multiple times and eventually retired as a Master Sergeant. Rush then served as a White House chef for four administrations. And last but not least, he's arguably one of the strongest men in the world (if you couldn't tell from his muscular physique and 24-inch biceps). He does 2,222 push-ups per day in honor of the 22 military veterans that commit suicide every day and lifts weights for at least an hour every single day (via Men's Health).
For as much as Rush likes to cook, he also likes to eat. After all, he has to fuel not only his busy schedule but also his intense workout routine. As for what he consumes in his everyday life? Men's Health Magazine recently shared a video on Twitter detailing exactly what Rush eats on a daily basis. The celebrity chef walked viewers through his typical day of eating and, just like his impressive resume, his diet might shock you.
He eats about 10,000 calories per day
Before we get into exactly what chef Andre Rush eats every day, first consider these basic stats from Business Insider: The 47-year-old weighs 275 pounds and, while he doesn't track calories or macros, he estimates that he consumes somewhere between 6,000 and 10,000 calories per day. In the video that Men's Health posted to Twitter following the cook throughout his day-to-day life, he breaks down what each meal looks like. His day starts with a yawn-inducing 3 a.m. wakeup call, at which point he does his 2,222 push-ups before making breakfast. That breakfast consists of 24 whole eggs, lean beef, and a protein shake that contains oatmeal, peanut butter, and kale.
At 11 a.m., Rush eats lunch, which is typically lean beef, quinoa, and tomatoes topped with feta cheese. His "second lunch" is at 2 p.m. and includes half a whole chicken, two to four ounces of steak, and white rice. After another workout, he eats dinner at 6 p.m. On the menu? The other half of the whole chicken, sweet potatoes, broccoli, and another protein shake. Chef Rush eats again at 8 p.m. — a meal of salmon, kale, and tomatoes topped with balsamic and black garlic. That isn't his final meal, either. If he's working, he'll eat again at 10 p.m., but this time it's just a protein shake of Greek yogurt, oatmeal, quinoa, and fruit. And that's a wrap on Rush's full day of eating!
