Is Kroger Open On Christmas 2021?
Here's a fun fact: Not including Walmart, the largest grocery store company in the United States in 2020 was The Kroger Company, with $122 billion in sales (via Food Industry). What began as a tiny shop in Cincinnati back in 1883 is now a national grocery chain beloved by thousands of shoppers across the country (via Kroger). Part of Kroger's success undoubtedly comes from the retailer's range of features, including its popular private label brand — which "account[ed] for more than a quarter of total sales," according to a 2015 Insider report — as well as its gas rewards program, highly-rated customer service, and wide variety of products and brands.
If you're a Kroger regular — or if there's one in the town where you'll be spending the holidays — you might be wondering whether or not the grocery store is open on Christmas Day. Here's what you need to know about Kroger's holiday hours this year so you can make sure you have everything you need for December 25.
Kroger is only open on Christmas Eve
While some grocery stores, including Giant Food, Safeway, Acme, Vons, Speedway, and more, are conveniently open on Christmas Day, Kroger, unfortunately, is not (via Good Housekeeping). The grocery chain, which has around 2,800 stores across 35 states in the U.S., closes all of its locations on December 25 to allow its employees to celebrate with their own friends and family. In fact, Christmas is actually the only holiday for which Kroger closes nationwide — its locations are even open on Thanksgiving (with stores closing at 4pm) and New Year's Day (with stores operating on their normal schedule).
Fortunately, if you need to pick up a last-minute ham for roasting on Christmas Day or a carton of eggs and a box of pancake mix for your family's annual Christmas brunch, Kroger will be open on Christmas Eve, but with reduced hours from 9am to 9pm.
