This Was Donnie Wahlberg's Favorite Food Growing Up

Donnie Wahlberg may be best known to the world as a member of the boy band New Kids on the Block or for his acting chops in such gigs as the television series "Blue Bloods," but in the Wahlberg family he is simply kid number eight in a family of nine children. And truthfully, big families can have big dynamics. Per Biography.com, Wahlberg revealed how normal the sibling rivalries were growing up saying, "We'd fight over clothes, or who had the prettier girlfriend, which of us was the best athlete, stuff like that."

But, there is one more thing that might have caused Wahlberg to have words with his brothers and sisters, and that was when his mom Alma made his favorite dish for dinner. According to the A&E show "Wahlburgers," about the family's burger empire, all the Wahlberg kids had their favorite foods that their mom would cook up. And while there were definitely a lot of mouths to feed, it sounds like Alma took care to ensure her kids not only had "delicious" meals, but also foods that provided some great family stories. So, what was Donnie Walhberg's favorite recipe that his mom made?

Donnie loved his mom's fried chicken wings

Alma Walhberg, who passed away last year, once shared with Today.com that, when times were tough, she fed her family with welfare butter and cheese and created what she referred to as crazy meals. She said, "I invented the craziest meals. English muffin pizzas, that was the big treat. I had no choice. I had to find them something to eat."

Necessity is the mother of invention, and it spurred Alma Walhberg to create easy but yummy dishes for her family. She has shared her kids favorite dishes on the "Wahlburgers" website and revealed that Donnie's favorite dinner was fried chicken wings. As she said, "Those were his favorite. And we were lucky if we got any! If you were two minutes late coming in, forget it. That food was gone! That's why I liked them all there at the same time."

If you are from a big family, you are probably thinking this is all so relatable. Alma Walhberg went on to further say, "Again, we all like all these recipes, but they had their favorites. And this definitely was his favorite. And I liked it because it's easy! Although I had to cook an awful lot of them. I can't even imagine how many of them I had to cook. A lot!" Other meals Alma Walhberg would make to feed her crew included lasagna, American-inspired Chop Suey, and mac and cheese.
