Chick-Fil-A's Kale Is Raising Eyebrows On Reddit

Due to its many health benefits, kale has become quite popular in recent years. Per Healthy Way, this superfood is full of vitamins such as Vitamin K, which may reduce the risk of blood clotting, Vitamin A, which can contribute to your immune system, vision, and skin health, Vitamin B6 which may help with depression and anemia, and the antioxidant Vitamin C. "One cup of kale has only 36 calories, five grams of fiber, and zero grams of fat," nutritionist Vanessa Rissetto said. "It's great for aiding in digestion and elimination with its high fiber content."

In early 2020, Chick-fil-A announced a new menu item in the form of the Kale Crunch Side, per a press release. It's made with curry kale, green cabbage, and a vinaigrette composed of Dijon mustard and apple cider. This waffle fry substitution comes with a side of roasted almonds and doesn't include an upcharge. Though this item may be desirable for many, one Reddit user wasn't happy with the salad they received in July 2022.

The portion seemed inaccurate

When a Redditor posed a question on the r/ChickFilA subreddit, they were shocked at the quantity of kale in their Chick-fil-A Kale Crunch Side. A posted photo showed a clear container that was at least half empty from the fast food eatery. "Are kale salads usually barely filled?" the caption read, "This barely covered the bottom of the container and no, I hadn't eaten any out of it." Most of the commenters agreed that the portion definitely didn't look "normal."

"The kale wilts extremely fast after it is prepared and it makes it looks under proportioned. My store would have thrown it out," an employee wrote. Another employee confirmed, "The ones at my store come in that size container, it looks like they didn't fill that one like they should have." One Reddit user didn't believe the original poster and wrote, "Being honest, you ate some of it," but the OP denied these claims. Either way, the Redditor felt the side item was "actually pretty good," so all is well that ends well.
