Taco Bell's DIY Hot Sauce Popsicles Have Serious Summer Vibes

Foodies can fall prey to summertime cravings no matter what time of year it is. As the winter solstice approaches, seasonal eating has taken its final form for the next several months. Sure, You can buy a fresh tomato in the grocery store produce section, but it simply will not taste the same as one picked at the peak of ripeness. That's a hard pill to swallow for a foodie who just wants to enjoy a watermelon salad in December. There's a reason people think twice about buying out-of-season produce. In fact, according to a OnePoll survey, 63% of 2,000 people said they wished summer lasted longer, per SWNS Digital.

While no one is throwing shade to butternut squash, or soup, or any other winter staple, too much of anything can grow tiresome. If you're in a wintery rut with your food routine, Taco Bell has an ingenious solution for summertime cravings, which the chain shared in a Nov. 28 TikTok.

Taste the tropics with hot sauce popsicles

Taco Bell is here to cure the winter blues. In a recent TikTok, the company shared a resourceful and tasty use for your leftover hot sauce packets. "Summer ends when we say so," the caption for the post said.

The video demonstrates how to prepare a Taco Bell popsicle. Simply squeeze Taco Bell hot sauce packets — the video uses Diablo Sauce — into a popsicle mold, and add the chain's Mango Freeze beverage. After a few hours in the freezer, you'll have a spicy, sweet, tropical, frozen treat to infuse your winter snacking game with summer vibes. The comment section was a bit all over the place. While most of the commentary was completely irrelevant to the actual video, some people were simply incredulous about this idea. "It's almost December. Summer ended so long ago. This is completely unhinged Taco Bell," wrote one user.

The idea isn't entirely new, however. Zaxby's gave away sauce-based popsicles back in September, according to Thrillist, and Bloody Mary popsicles have definitely had their moment as well, per GMA.
