Shania Twain Apparently Loved Working At McDonald's
If you've ever worked at McDonald's, you're in good company. As of 2020, more than 2 million people were employed by McDonald's franchise locations worldwide, per a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing. Chances are, you know of at least one person who has worked for the golden arches at some point. And even if you don't know someone who's flipped burgers and slung fries at the fast food restaurant personally, you probably know of some celebrities who have.
Musicians Pink, Seal, and Pharell Williams all worked at McDonald's at one time or another before becoming famous, and Amazon creator Jeff Bezos just might be the most famous celebrity who worked at McDonald's. But there are lots of people who don't love their job at Mickey D's. Some employees have made troubling accusations against the chain, and others have walked away from their jobs with fond memories. And though Shania Twain known more for her country-pop music than any career in the food industry, she is one former McDonald's worker who has positive things to say about her time there.
Twain mastered the perfect fry
Though Shania Twain's Grammys appearance had the internet craving Wendy's during the 2023 awards show, thanks to her vibrant, reddish-orange wig, Twain's real fast food roots are at McDonald's. She shared with ET Canada that she used to work at the Golden Arches when she was an up-and-coming musical artist. Though plenty of current and former McDonald's employees seem all too happy to hop on Reddit to air their grievances toward the chain, she had nothing but nice things to say about her time there.
"I worked at McDoanld's in several departments, but I loved the drive-thru," Twain shared. The star's schedule was busy at the time, as she juggled performing, school, and work. But she says that she liked feeling that she was "just making people happy" by providing them with cheerful service at the drive-thru. She also had a thing for the fries. "I just love to make the perfect fry," said the star. "You know, the kind you see on TV." She revealed that she still eats McDonald's fries. This might not come as a surprise to people who follow the singer on TikTok, where Twain posted a video of herself declaring, "Well, my favorite thing is French fries."
One of the first things Twain did when she got a record deal was splurge on food. Perhaps that means less McDonald's, though who knows? Maybe it just means that now she can afford the most expensive Big Mac in America. And fries.
