Trader Joe's Fans Are So Excited About These New Dill Pickle Potato Chips
The past few years, it seems like it's been "all pickle everything" at the stores. Doritos recently debuted a pickle flavor. Pringles partnered with Rick and Morty to come out with "Pickle Rick" crisps, according to the brand's website. There's Whicked Pickle whiskey to wash those snack foods down, or you can just buy straight pickle juice (via Whicked Pickle). Someone even came out with a pint of pickle ice cream, marketed to pregnant people (via Dairy Foods).
Loyal Trader Joe's customers, your pickle moment has arrived — again. Two Trader Joe's fan accounts on Instagram, @traderjoeslist and @traderjoesobsessed, have announced that "Chips in a Pickle," the grocery chain's version of dill pickle-flavored chips, have just arrived.
Instagrammers are predictably excited over Trader Joe's latest contribution to the lineup of pickle-flavored snacks. Some commenters under the @traderjoesobsessed post already love the chain's Popcorn in a Pickle, which also has had seasonal releases in recent summers. One commenter pointed out that if these potato chips taste like pickles, then they should make a good sandwich topping. "Added them to my tuna sandwich today and was not disappointed," they said. Someone commenting on @traderjoeslist's post said they won't be buying these chips. "I'll eat the entire bag in one sitting," they said.
Reviewers love Trader Joe's Chips in a Pickle potato chips
Instagrammer @traderjoeslist posted a video review of Trader Joe's Chips in a Pickle. "Perfectly crunchy, so much dill," the person behind @traderjoeslist said. "I am in love with these, and if they take these away I'm going to be very, very upset." They also posted a photo showing the ingredients, which include vinegar powder, onion powder, and dill weed. (Some lactose-fearing commenters were upset to see whey powder on the list, too.)
The Instagram account @traderjoesobsessed gave the chips a rating of nine out of 10. This account recommended dipping Chips in a Pickle in Trader Joe's zhoug or jalapeño artichoke dips. A six-ounce bag of Trader Joe's pickle flavored potato chips costs $2.29.
Trader Joe's has had potato chips on the brain these days. Last month they posted an article on their website suggesting ways to pair their various Pinot Grigios with different flavors of potato chips. Too bad the article came out before Trader Joe's could tell us what to drink with Chips in a Pickle. For now, we'll just grab the Whicked Pickle whiskey.
