The Most Hated Fast Food Chain In The US Might Surprise You

You may already know what the best fast food options out there are – Dunkin' is America's number one coffee spot, McDonald's has the most popular breakfasts and (unsurprisingly) the best fries, Wendy's sells the most popular salads, and Dairy Queen has everyone's favorite shakes — but how about the flip side of the coin? Which fast food restaurant you should absolutely steer clear of?

According to a recent breakdown looking at the most hated chain state by state, America's least favorite fast food restaurant is... Burger King (via KUTV). The Daring Kitchen collected data from Twitter and reported a whopping 15 states tweeted more negative things at the burger chain than all other fast food restaurants considered. McDonald's came in a fairly close second, with 11 states tweeting negatively about the chain. Taco Bell was named least popular in nine states, Wendy's in five, and Arby's and KFC in four states each. Jack in the Box and White Castle tied for least negative tweets, with one state each: Arizona and Ohio, respectively.

The worst menu items at the worst fast food chain

Let's say Burger King is the only option available. How do you avoid getting the worst order at the worst fast food chain? Well it depends what you're looking for. According to nutrition blog Eat This, Not That!, the most unhealthy options on the Burger King menu include the BBQ Bacon Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which has 790 calories and 49 grams of fat; the Bacon King Sandwich, which has 1,150 calories and 79 grams of fat; and (most unhealthy of all), the Triple Whopper with Cheese, which has 1,220 calories and 82 grams of fat.

How about if you're judging by taste? Insider's review says the worst choice at Burger King is the dollar burger: "I definitely think I got what I paid for — the hamburger patty itself was so small and thin that I had to double-check to make sure it was actually there." Ranker's lowest rated BK menu option, meanwhile, is the BBQ Bacon Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and according to Reddit, the Burger King fish fillets are usually sitting around for way too long to be worth it.
