Guy Fieri's Favorite Vegetable May Surprise You

The wildly down-to-earth and sometimes overly-enthusiastic chef, restaurateur, and cooking show host Guy Fieri is known for his love of off-the-chain comfort foods. Love him or hate him, Fieri has a signature look that's as extraordinary as his dishes. While he's typically rocking bleached blonde, spiked hair, a killer goatee, sporty sunglasses, and flame-embellished clothing, Guy whips up some mean grub in the kitchen and tours the nation to get a taste of what others are cooking.

On his most-watched TV show, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives (aka "Triple-D"), Fieri visits small, independently-owned eateries across America and helps kitchen staff prepare some of their most famous meals; he also gets to know the owners and customers, and teaches the audience a thing or two about supporting local businesses. When he's not in front of the camera, Fieri also owns a slew of restaurants around the country, many of which serve feast-sized meals like burgers, fried chicken, hot wings, steaks, tacos, pizza, barbecue, cheese-covered-whatever, you name it.

However, contrary to popular belief, Fieri consumes way more than just the rich, heavy foods people see him eating on TV. According to Delish, his diet is quite healthy! He loves his veggies and highly encourages wholesome eating habits, especially with his family.

What is Guy Fieri's favorite vegetable?

In a tell-all interview with Food Network, Fieri revealed his all-time favorite veggie: kale! "I love kale," he gushed. "I think kale is a vegetable that eats like a protein. It's hearty. You can eat it raw, chopped in a salad, you can eat it cooked, wilted and beat up like a collard green. It's super-fortifying and very healthy for you." Well, there you have it, folks!

For those of you who've been living under a rock, kale is pretty dang good for you. Kale is a superfood that's jam-packed with nutrients, such as vitamins A, C, K, and B6, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and omega-3s. According to Healthline, kale is also full of antioxidants and provides several health benefits, including helping to lower cholesterol, reducing the risk of cancer, promoting weight loss, and protecting your peepers. To easily get your kale fix, you can sneak it into a variety of recipes, including oven-baked chips, homemade pesto, pizza crust, smoothies, brownies, cookies, and cakes.

Fieri joined the PopSugar Food team to prepare some spaghetti squash and kale salad. Yum! He's also a huge cilantro buff — it's one of his "favorite, favorite herbs." The one food he'll never touch, though? Eggs. "I'll eat just about everything. I challenge myself every year to revisit things I don't like. But I'm not a huge egg fan," he admitted. Oh, Guy. Always just crackin' everyone up! (Get it?)

Looks like kale is on the highway to Flavortown!
