The Mustard Brand Ina Garten Swears By

There are some ingredients that, over time, build up a cult-like following. Maybe it's the ingredient's reputation; maybe it has stood the test of time; maybe it really is that good. Or maybe it's because a movie like "Wayne's World" takes an iconic commercial and turns it into a memorable scene that people are still referring to and turning into memes (via Pinterest). Reasons certainly abound. Still, when someone like the Barefoot Contessa gives an ingredient her stamp of approval, that's pretty much all it takes, no further explanation needed. You know you will buy it, and we are right there with you. In fact, per Farris Marketing, Harvard Business School professor Anita Elberse and Barclays Capital analyst Jeroen Verleun did the research and found that when a celebrity endorses a product, companies see a 4% rise in sales when compared to their competitors.

That's why we are so excited that Ina Garten graciously gave Bon Appétit a sneak peek into her pantry where the celebrity chef and cookbook author shared her go-to mustard. What we love about this brand, aside from the fact that rappers have been known to include it in their lyrics (via Vox), is that it is accessible to all. You can find it at pretty much any mainstream grocery store. And Garten's go-to mustard won't cost you a small fortune, which our pocketbooks appreciate.

Do you happen to have any Grey Poupon?

Garten told Bon Appétit, "One of my favorite ingredients is mustard. I use it in so many things. It's kind of that Provencal thing of mustard, and garlic, and thyme. I use two different kinds: Grey Poupon Dijon, available everywhere, and whole grain—I like when things look like what they really are. The two of them together are great in vinaigrettes and sauces." We get why Garten likes this brand. Grey Poupon mustard can definitely add that extra tang to a recipe. And Garten isn't kidding when she says she uses this ingredient a lot. Whether it's her chicken thighs with creamy mustard sauce (via the Barefoot Contessa website) or her ultimate grilled cheese with Dijon mustard, she has the internet drooling and salivating with every recipe click.

But why should we care about mustard in our recipes? if Garten's recommendation isn't enough, Big Daddy Kane rapped about this brand's luxurious goodness: "What type of mission can I say you on? Because you musta done changed to some Grey Poupon" (via Genius). Enough said.
