Here's What Simone Biles Actually Eats In A Day While Training

Simone Biles has become the most decorated American gymnast after leaving Paris 2024 with three more golds and one silver. This is one of many impressive headlines the gymnast has made in her career. Biles also became the first woman to land the Yurchenko double pike, a very difficult maneuver that involves a roundoff, a back handspring, and finishing with a double backflip. The move is now dubbed "Biles II." While it obviously takes immense skill and training to pull off incredible feats, nutrition is also very important. The Paris 2024 Olympics menu looked delicious, but what does the athlete eat daily to keep herself performance-ready?

"I eat what I feel good with and try not to overeat or stuff myself because I'm always at the gym," Biles told Women's Health. Tracking her diet is not a priority for Biles because she believes it could get in the way of a healthy relationship with food. If she wants a quick meal, she'll order it. In fact, a collaboration with Uber Eats and Queer Eye's Jonathan Van Ness highlights her love for ordering food. Who knew delivery would be a part of her routine?

Light breakfast and protein-packed lunch

You know what they say: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. However, when you are an Olympic athlete waking up at the crack of dawn, you may not have time for a bite to eat. On a typical day of training, Simone Biles is up at 6:15 a.m. to get ready for a 7 a.m. workout. If she can squeeze in a morning meal on one of those busy days, she gravitates towards quick breakfasts like oatmeal, fruit, toast, or a boiled egg. She might even have a granola bar. After her morning workout, the Olympian drinks a protein shake (half after her first practice and half after her second practice). Weekends or days off give her the freedom to cook a leisurely breakfast, like protein waffles, eggs, or cinnamon rolls.

Biles doesn't have much time for snacking during gym days, but when she does, she opts for fruit. Bananas, grapes, strawberries, and watermelon are some favorites. Then it's onto lunch, when Biles focuses on protein. "For lunch, I'll eat more proteins, like chicken or salmon," she told Bustle. Biles has said she tends to cook these foods in the air fryer and adds some veggies for balance. Uber Eats also comes in handy for the athlete as she orders delivery for everything from sushi to a pepperoni pizza. Biles has remarked in the past, "It doesn't even matter if I don't win a self-gold, after every meet I have pizza. Pepperoni pizza" (via ABC News).

A balanced dinner and sometimes even dessert

Dinner is often very similar to lunch for Simone Biles — both are packed with protein. One of her go-to meals is lemon pepper salmon with rice and veggies. Her husband, Jonathan Owens, also likes to cook chicken or salmon. The two use dinner time to wind down for the night. As opposed to just protein and veggies for lunch, Biles also throws in another element: "I'll add grains, rice, potatoes, veggies — stuff like that" (via Bustle). The athlete has a particular affinity for potatoes. "I love potatoes in any shape or form," she told Women's Health. On a less healthy day, Biles might enjoy her favorite meal of pepperoni pizza, a fettucini alfredo with chicken, or eat out at a restaurant near home.

Dinner is often the last meal of the day for Biles, and dessert typically isn't on the menu. "I have to be in a dessert mood and that usually happens more often when I'm out of town," she explained to Women's Health. That means Biles will look on Uber Eats for ice cream and cookies. She's more inclined to reach for strawberries and whipped cream or cookies at home. She really enjoys making s'mores cookies by wrapping graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows in cookie dough and baking them. From breakfast to the occasional dessert, the Olympian listens to her body when choosing meals.
