Why Some Costco Shoppers Aren't Impressed With These Stuffed Jalapenos

Costco fans get pretty excited about a great product at a great price at their favorite wholesale club, whether it is super cute and comfortable Disney pajamas, or a caramelized onion and Gruyère dip. However, not every item Costco offers will necessarily an automatic homerun. Take their Bacon Wrapped & Cheese Stuffed Jalapeños, for example: As delicious as those might sound, those who tried them had some strong feelings about these little snacks, and not all of them good.

According to the website Pitco, Jalapeño "poppers," as they're often known, have been around since the 1980s. Their deliciousness stems from the way their creamy or cheesy fillings complement the heat of the spicy peppers. Whether you order them as an appetizer in a restaurant or make them at home from scratch or frozen, jalapeños can be stuffed with any kind of filling, most commonly cream cheese, or even crab and shrimp (via Goldbelly). Usually, stuffed jalapeños are coated with breadcrumbs and fried, but they can also be broiled, grilled, or baked (via Martha Stewart).

Scrumptious, right? That's why the Instagram account costcobuys just posted a photo of a new variety of this favorite frozen snack, noting that they look "incredible." According to some followers, however, these seemingly promising little bites were closer to "inedible."

Opinions are mixed about these 'gritty' snacks

Although the popular Instagram costcobuys account was excited to show off the deal of 20 Bacon Wrapped & Cheese Stuffed Jalapeños for $9.99, it appears that some followers of the account said these little snacks are no bargain — at any price.

One commenter wrote of the unbranded appetizers: "I give these 2/10. They had some good flavor but the cream cheese inside was almost inedible, very gritty and a weird chalk flavor." Another added "Looks better in the pic unfortunately. Just a gross consistency and bacon seemed rubbery." And as another bluntly put it, "They're disgusting." Other followers weren't quite so descriptive but also panned the poppers. "Purchased and used air fryer. Was just OK. Wasn't anything great," said one. Another non-fan of the poppers wrote that they were "Not good just make them yourself instead. We did not enjoy."

Proving that we all have different ideas about what's tasty and what's terrible, though, there were other costcobuys followers who thought they were great. "I have always made them i[n] the air fryer and I can't get enough of them!" said one fan. Another agreed, "Great for game day." Still another commented, "they are amazing!" Finally, one experienced user who advised cooking them on an oven stone wrote, "So good!"

With opinions being so unexpectedly divided about these bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapeños, it seems that you'll have to decide for yourself if these apps are worth a try.
