Reddit Is Floored By The Price Of The Double Steak Grilled Cheese Burrito
Fast food is popular because it's convenient, cheap, and delicious in a way that you'll feel guilty about later. A lot of fast food chains have dollar or value menus that give you more bang for your buck. McDonald's, for example, has a sausage muffin, McDouble, McChicken, fries, chicken nuggets, and more all on its value menu that ranges from $1 to $3 per item (via McDonald's). Then, you have the popular four-for $4 deal from Wendy's that includes a junior cheeseburger, four chicken nuggets, a junior fry, and a drink, according to Wendy's.
Of course, the popular chain Taco Bell has a cravings value menu that features classics such as the spicy potato soft taco, the beefy melt burrito, cinnamon twists, a fiesta veggie burrito, and more, per Taco Bell. All of the items on Taco Bell's cravings value menu are either $1 or $2, with the exception of the classic combo that comes with a drink, a hard taco, a beefy five-layer burrito, and either cinnamon twists or chips and nacho cheese for $5. So, overall, it seems that Taco Bell has some decent options for folks on a budget. However, some Reddit users were actually shocked by the price of a double steak grilled cheese burrito from Taco Bell. Here's what they said.
Fans think the burrito is way too expensive for fast food
In a recent post in the r/tacobell Reddit thread, fans of the popular Mexican chain discussed the price of Taco Bell's Double Steak Grilled Cheese Burrito. The original poster (OP) shared a screenshot from the Taco Bell app that showed the burrito priced at $6.99 in their area. According to Taco Bell's website, the Double Steak Grilled Cheese Burrito includes seasoned rice, fiesta strips, creamy chipotle sauce, nacho cheese sauce, a double portion of grilled steak, sour cream, and a blend of three cheeses all wrapped in a flour tortilla that's then sprinkled with cheese and grilled. Interestingly, the burrito is priced at $7.29 on Taco Bell's website, so the price must vary from location to location.
The commenters under the Reddit post expressed their thoughts on the price of the burrito, with many of them saying that they would only pay about $5 max for the item. Many of them also said that for the same price, they would rather splurge on "more authentic" Mexican food. The OP commented that they live in Washington D.C. and have seen the burrito priced at $8.30 before, and someone from Los Angeles said that they've seen it at $9 at their local Taco Bell. Maybe we'll just stick to the value menu.
