The Super Immersive Dishes Behind The Super Mario Bros Café

The new Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles, California is set to open to the public on February 17, 2023, with the purchase of a regular admission ticket to the theme park, per Universal Studios Hollywood. Of course, this includes the new Toadstool Cafe that's completely inspired by the popular video game series and has some exclusive and immersive dishes that make you feel right at home in the Mushroom Kingdom (via Universal Studios Hollywood). Interestingly, the first Toadstool Cafe was opened in the Universal Studios park in Osaka, Japan in 2021 and is called Kinopio's Cafe, which is Japanese for Toad, according to Eater. So, the Hollywood location had plenty of help when it came time to build the themed restaurant.

A couple of menu items can be found at both the Japan and California locations, and they are the Mario Burger, which includes mushrooms, cheese, and bacon; and the Piranha Plant Caprese which comes with tomatoes, basil pesto, fresh mozzarella, asparagus, and mixed greens. Additionally, two menu items exclusive to the Universal Studios Hollywood location are the Luigi burger, which comes with grilled chicken, pesto, and cheese; and the Super Star Chicken Salad which features a mix of romaine lettuce and cabbage that's topped with grilled chicken, grape tomatoes, mushrooms, star-shaped croutons, a large Super Star made of parmesan cheese, and a mushroom truffle dressing.

Here are some other dishes you can expect to find at the new Toadstool Cafe.

Super Mario Bros. fans will love Toadstool Cafe

Other appetizers include Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots, which are shaped like tiny mushrooms, topped with parmesan cheese, garlic butter, and parsley, and served with marinara for dipping, per Universal Studios Hollywood. There's also Yoshi's Favorite Fruit and Veggie Salad that comes with mixed greens, strawberries, star fruit, blueberries, mushrooms, tomato, cucumber, radish, raspberry vinaigrette, and croutons that look like a Yoshi egg. If you aren't feeling a burger, you can also try the Fire Flower Spaghetti and Meatballs that includes a parmesan crisp with a Fire Flower design, or the Chef Toad Short Rib Special that includes goat cheese polenta and sour cream dolloped around the plate as a nod to Toad's iconic hat.

There's also a menu for children nine years old and under; they can enjoy a Power-Up Spaghetti Marinara meal or a Mario Mini Burger Adventure Set. For dessert, diners can enjoy a Princess Peach cupcake, a Mt. Beanpole cake, and tiramisu inspired by the question mark blocks found in the Super Mario Bros. video game. In addition to soda, water, milk, juice, tea, and coffee, Toadstool Cafe will have red and green mushroom collectible cups and a Super Star Lemon Squash beverage, which is a honey lemon soda with boba and mango stars (via Eater). Whatever you decide to try, the new Toadstool Cafe at Universal Studios Hollywood is a must for fans of the iconic, nostalgic video game.
