Can You Cook Hot Dogs In An Air Fryer?

Hotdogs are one of those foods that many of us grew up eating. Perhaps you also make them for your children now. After all, they're super easy to prepare, and kids love them. Or at least some do. They're great at campfires, baseball games, and 4th of July cookouts. You can eat them wrapped in croissant dough or covered in chili and cheese.

When it comes to cooking them, you have several options. You can grill them, boil them, bake them, or pan fry them, to name a few methods. But can you air fry them? Air fryers haven't been around for as long as stoves and grills, and there are first-time users every day who wonder what they can and can't cook in them.

Some people believe anything that can be cooked on a stove or in an oven can also be cooked in an air fryer, but that's not always the case. There are some foods you should never cook in an air fryer and a longer list of foods you can. So which list are hotdogs on?

Most meats can be cooked in an air fryer

If you're still exploring all the foods you can make in your air fryer, you'll be happy to know that yes, you can cook hotdogs in an air fryer. You may even find that you prefer the taste and texture of air-fried hot dogs over other cooking methods. Plus, it only takes about five minutes to cook them, and there's no water, fire, or gas required.

Air Fryer Eats recommends scoring the top of the hotdogs before placing them in the air fryer to help them vent as they warm up. Then place them in the basket and air fry them for four to five minutes at 390 degrees Fahrenheit. When they're done, you'll be left with a nice, crispy texture, comparable to fire-grilled hot dogs.

And if you want your buns to be a little toasted, you can throw those in the air fryer, too, after the hotdogs are done. Simply take the hotdogs out and put the buns. Leave them in for about three minutes, at the same temperature. Don't forget to slice or pull them open first, though.
