Tessa Thompson Has Never Eaten A Hamburger (And Isn't The Biggest Fan Of Eggs)

When is the last time you had a hamburger? Even if you can't recall the exact date, we're willing to bet it was sometime in the recent past, especially since the average American eats around 60 hamburgers per year (via poll results published by SWNS). For Tessa Thompson, however, there is absolutely no memory of scarfing down a succulent burger in her brain – but not because she's had her mind zapped by one of the neuralyzer devices like her character Molly almost did in "Men In Black: International." During a red carpet interview with Amelia Dimoldenberg at Vanity Fair's annual Oscar Party on March 12, the actor revealed that she not only doesn't indulge in the occasional burger but has actually never eaten one in her entire life.

Dimoldenberg was understandably taken aback by Thompson's truth bomb and scrambled to find a reason for the admission, asking if it was because she followed a vegetarian diet. "No. I eat other things, I've just never had a hamburger," she answered, leaving her interviewer stunned.

As for why she's never indulged in the handheld, the "Thor: Ragnarok" star wasn't really able to come up with an answer – though it seems that pride may have something to do with the hole in her diet. "It's the only thing extraordinary I can still claim," she quipped. Guess being a superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe counts for nothing these days.

Will Tessa Thompson ever break down and try a hamburger?

Tessa Thompson did not divulge any plans to add hamburgers to her diet during her red-carpet interview at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party. However, she did recently expand her palette to include a few other common foods. During an appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" on March 3, Thompson revealed that her "Creed" co-star Michael B. Jordan was recently able to convince her to have her first bite of steak. Additionally, Thompson's guest appearance marked her first experience eating an egg.

Yes, that's right, along with burgers and steak, the actor had never eaten an egg in any form until Fallon put her on the spot and presented her with a plate of the scrambled variety. The verdict? "I don't think they're great," she told Dimoldenberg at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, citing the breakfast staple's versatility as part of the problem.

Interestingly enough, Thompson is a pretty adventurous eater, once telling Ladygunn that she's had several "exotic morsels of animal products" like sweetbreads and calf brains. However, foods like eggs, steak, and hamburgers simply never interested her. "I also have a sort of pugnacious attitude, so I love saying that I've never done something that's so pedestrian that everyone's done ... like eating an egg!" she added. Being that Thompson has now tried both eggs and steak, it might only be a matter of time before she has her first bite of a hamburger, too.
