Juice It Up! Secret Menu Items To Try

If you're lucky enough to live near one of over 80 Juice It Up! locations in Oregon, California, New Mexico, and Texas, then you know why it's lauded as one of the best smoothie companies in the United States. But did you know that much like Dairy Queen, Starbucks, and other popular chains, it has a secret list of smoothies you won't find on the menu?

Secret menu items are dishes (or, in this case, drinks) that a company chooses not to advertise. Usually, they are created by customer–riffs on regular menu items that become fan favorites and are passed around through word of mouth or social media. In Juice It Up!'s case, secret orders often include more ingredients than the ones printed on the sign above the register. Others are mash-ups of classic flavors or revivals of discontinued menu items.

Ready to journey off-menu? Here are some bold and refreshing Juice It Up! secret menu items to order when you're in the mood for something new.

Alice in Wonderland

We're pleased to report that this potion won't make you grow or shrink, but it will send you on a whimsical taste adventure akin to that of its namesake Alice. With a whopping nine ingredients, it tells a story all of its own: puckery, juicy, tangy, sweet, and delightfully fruity.

To order the Alice in Wonderland smoothie, you'll need to request apple, peach, watermelon, raspberry, and pineapple juices blended with pineapple sherbet and pieces of mango, peach, and pineapple. You're sure to love the unique combination as your taste buds are sent down a rabbit hole of swirling flavors. You won't see any sign of this pink drink in stores, as the only references to this secret menu item appear in online round-ups and in customer reviews on Foursquare and Yelp. Nevertheless, those in the know can confirm that this is a treat you won't soon forget.

Pink Nerd

We're not sure how this smoothie got its name — maybe because it's packed with goody-two-shoes nutrients from mango, pineapple, peach, apple, and strawberry? It might be that the combination of sweet and tart flavors reminds us of old-school Nerds candies. Or, could it be a nod of solidarity to Elle Woods of "Legally Blonde" and all the Elles out there busting through stereotypes on the daily?

Though there are only a few old references to this smoothie on Juice it Up!'s Foursquare and Yelp pages, the recipe — with its bold color and refreshing mix of vibrant fresh fruits — is too tasty not to mention. To order the Pink Nerd smoothie, ask for a mix of apple, peach, mango, pineapple, and strawberry juices (heavy on the strawberry, if you want it to taste more like the pink Nerds candy) blended with yogurt and pieces of mango, pineapple, and peach.

Double Orange

Get twice the vitamin C and some serious creamsicle vibes with this smooth orange blend. It was such a fan favorite that Juice It Up! featured the recipe on its 25th-anniversary menu back in 2020, along with passionfruit cream and raspberry cream flavors. In fact, given the popularity of the chain's freshly-squeezed orange juice, we're surprised that this refresher isn't on the regular menu. (What do you say, Juice it Up!? Isn't it time this smoothie went mainstream?)

To order the Double Orange, ask for a blend of orange juice, orange sherbet, soy milk, and yogurt. Pro tip: Order two and take the extra smoothie home, then pour it into ice pop molds to make your own creamy frozen treats. We can't think of a better way to celebrate National Creamsicle Day on August 14. Or, let's be real, we can't think of a better way to celebrate any day.

Red Gummy Bear (aka Yummy Gummy)

The Red Gummy Bear, also known as Yummy Gummy or Gummy Bear, is such a popular secret menu item that the company has acknowledged it several times on its official Facebook page (a rare honor for under-the-radar smoothies). Just take a sip and you'll be part of the fan club, too.

As the name suggests, this fruity blend of freshly-squeezed fruit juices, creamy tart raspberry sherbet, and chunks of pineapple and peach mimics the flavor of those bright-red teddy bear treats we all coveted as kids. It's 100% kid-approved (no surprises there), and much more nutritious than a fistful of its namesake candies.

To order a Gummy Bear, ask for mango, strawberry, pineapple, peach, and raspberry juices blended with raspberry sherbet and pieces of peach and pineapple. Or, request this one by name at your favorite Juice it Up! location. Not every franchise is aware of all secret menu items though, so it always helps to have the ingredient list ready.

Can't Touch This

"Stop. Hammer time!" We only found one reference to Can't Touch This on a list of secret menu items online, but the idea of an MC Hammer–themed treat was too intriguing (and nostalgic) to ignore. With a mix of sweet and tart flavors from cranberry, mango, peach, lime, and strawberry, it might just give you "a mind to rhyme and two hyped feet." And really, couldn't we all use a bit more of that in our lives?

To order the Can't Touch This smoothie, ask for cranberry, mango, and peach juices blended with lime sherbet, strawberries, and pieces of peach and mango. Bonus points if you wear your favorite tapered pants and dark shades and bust out some Hammer Time dance moves while you wait for your order. Sure, you might get a few curious looks, but what can you say? You're just 2 legit 2 quit.

Tango Marango

Like the passionate, expressive dance it's named after, this drink will excite your palate and leave you panting for more. It's also irresistibly mysterious and elusive. We stumbled upon it on a list of secret menu items, and though it doesn't seem to appear in writing anywhere else, the unique combination of tropical fruits, fresh juice, and sherbet is too delicious not to share. We guarantee it will rev up your spirits on even the blandest of days, conjuring beachy, South American vibes and an exciting interplay of bright and tangy flavors.

To order the Tango Marango smoothie, sashay across the room to the counter (smoldering look optional) and ask for passion fruit, mango, and pineapple juices blended with orange and pineapple sherbet and pieces of mango and pineapple. Then, channeling Morticia and Gomez Addams, spin away dramatically to savor the intoxicating drink. No matter if you get a few inquiring looks; the tango is meant to be a spectacle, after all.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Rama

Banana Rama first appeared as a classic Juice It Up! smoothie — along with longstanding mainstays Raspberry Craze®, Lava Flow®, Piña Cool-Ada, Mango Mania, and more. In the last decade, the blend of apple juice, nonfat milk, nonfat yogurt, and banana fell off the official list and onto the secret menu, where in-the-know customers have made it their own.

We discovered a few different fan-created versions of Banana Rama hidden in the comments on Juice It Up!'s Facebook page. Some of them sound a lot like the original, but others veer off in a more decadent direction with additions of chocolate, peanut butter, or both. How could we resist? The combination of banana, chocolate, and peanut butter is such a no-brainer, we wouldn't be shocked if this one made its way back to the official menu one of these days.

To order the Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Rama smoothie, ask for apple juice blended with nonfat milk, nonfat yogurt, banana, and a scoop or two of both chocolate and peanut butter.

Shooting Star

Three, two, one, blast off! Transport yourself to a galaxy of flavor with this blend of fresh juices, sweet-and-tangy fruits, and four different kinds of sherbet. We caught a glimpse of the ingredient list in a Juice It Up! Employee's TikTik video, and now all we can think of is careening past pineapple-, strawberry-, and orange-shaped planets on an asteroid belt made of sherbet and chopped fruit. Whether you need a morning mood boost, an energizing pick-me-up to get you through the afternoon, or a sweet reward at the end of the day, this one's an easy choice.

To order the Shooting Star smoothie, ask for strawberry, pineapple, and orange juices blended with strawberries, pieces of pineapple, and all — yes, all — of the sherbets (lime, orange, pineapple, and raspberry). Pro tip: If you're in the mood for dessert, make it even more out-of-this-world with a swirl of whipped cream on top.

Scooby Snack

"Like zoinks, Scoob!" This smoothie is based on an alcoholic shot made with pineapple juice, melon liqueur, coconut rum, and whipped cream — which happens to be the same neon-green color as Fred's van and the Scooby Snacks box in the original cartoon. But don't worry, the color is the only thing that will remind you of the cartoon dog's favorite treats. No kibble here!

According to a Juice It Up! employee, who immortalized the secret menu item in a TikTok demo, it has a tropical, pineapple flavor. Enjoy it as is, or take it home and stir in regular or coconut-flavored rum for happy hour. After a long day of hijinx and mystery-solving, you certainly deserve it.

To order the Scooby Snack smoothie, pile into your Mystery Machine, roll up to the closest Juice It Up! location, and ask for watermelon and pineapple juices blended with pieces of pineapple and yogurt.

Rainbow Punch

Like most other Juice It Up! secret menu items, this fruit punch–inspired smoothie isn't mentioned much in writing, except for one comment on FourSquare and a Twitter post from 2014. But that's all part of the appeal, isn't it?

One gulp and you're a kid again, savoring each sip through the bendy plastic straw of your Hi-C or Hawaiian juice box. The experience of Juice It Up!'s version is just as joyful and nostalgic as those you remember from childhood — only this time the sweetness comes mostly from fruit juices, not granulated sugar and high-fructose corn syrup. Plus, you're getting a hefty serving of real fruit, not just the artificial stuff. Sounds like the ultimate win-win, doesn't it?

So what are you waiting for? To order the Rainbow Punch smoothie, ask for apple, pineapple, and strawberry juices blended with orange and raspberry sherbet, fresh strawberries, and pieces of pineapple.
