National Margarita Day 2020: Where To Get The Best Deals

Clear your calendars and grab the salt shaker, because February 22 is National Margarita Day. The holiday honoring the tequila-based cocktail happens to share a date with founding father George Washington's birthday, but if we're being honest, margaritas are a lot more fun than celebrating ol' George.

While the margarita has been around since the 1930s (via National Geographic), its popularity has hardly waned here in the United States and you'd be hard-pressed to find a casual dining chain that doesn't have at least some form of it on their bar menu. Being that this beloved celebration of the margarita happens to fall on a weekend, you can count on a host of great drink specials to be popping up.

Whether you like your 'rita on the rocks or frozen, or with or without salt, here's where you should go looking for that perfect margarita.

The best margarita deals for your buck

If you're looking for margaritas, these are the regional and national spots to hit. Many of them are also offering food deals to go along with those drinks.

Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant: The Tex-Mex chain won't be offering any discounts this year, but it's still worth hitting up for a drink. For every premium margarita sold, Abuelo's will donate $2 to the No Kid Hungry charity.

Bahama Breeze: The island eatery will be celebrating the day by changing the price of its classic margarita to reflect the calendar date — $2.22. If you don't make it on Sunday, there's no reason to worry, because they're using the holiday to kick off a week-long Viva La 'Rita celebration with new margarita flavors.

Chili's: The national casual dining chain has been serving up margaritas for decades and on February 22 will be offering two margaritas for just $5. You even get a free souvenir cup to boot.

Chuy's: The popular Tex-Mex chain is all about the party for National Margarita Day and will be offering a special of $1 floaters all day. If that weren't enough, customers can also grab an order of their taco fries for $7.

El Chico: Participating locations of the Mexican cafe will be offering $3 margaritas as well as $2 Patron toppers and $1 Grand Mariner toppers.

Genghis Grill: Various locations will be offering margaritas for $5 as well as flavor toppers for just $1.

More margaritas coming your way

Hopdoddy Burger Bar: The national burger chain might just be offering up the biggest margarita of them all. For $25 your entire group can suck down a full liter of its Doble Fina Margarita.

Margaritaville: One would hope that a restaurant with "margarita" in its name would be down to party on National Margarita Day. The Jimmy Buffet-themed restaurants surprisingly aren't going all out. Hitting it up might not be a total bust, though, because they are running a contest where patrons can win their own margarita blender.

McCormick & Schmick's: The steak and seafood chain will be inviting guests to try their ancho chile margarita for $6 and the house margarita for $5.

O'Charley's: The American dining chain might not be what most people think of when margaritas are on the mind, but regardless, they're still getting in on the action with $4 'ritas.

On the Border: The national casual dining Mexican cantina has actually been running a special the entire month of February where guests can enjoy a Grand Rita for just $5. This deal ends after February 22 though.

Pappasito's Cantina: The Tex-Mex chain hasn't said exactly how they'll be celebrating the occasion, just that customers should "start making plans."

The margarita deals just don't stop

Rosa Mexicano: The upscale Mexican chain is celebrating all week with their Herradura Silver margarita. It doesn't look like there's any sort of discount on it, but if you order it on Saturday you get free guacamole!

Tin Lizzy's: The Southern chain will be celebrating the day with $4 Goza Tequila margaritas.

Tony Roma's: The barbecue eatery has been running a special all week with their Romaritas for just $4, as well as $2 off premium Romaritas (via Today).

Twin Peaks: The sports bar chain will be running two different margarita specials this weekend. Guests can hit it up on February 21 for $4 margaritas and go back the next day for the larger $6 Peaks margarita.

Whew, that's a lot of margarita deals. Drink up!
