The Real Reason Chick-Fil-A Pulled Biscuit Cinnamon Rolls From Menus

Chick-fil-A is a pretty precise and consistent fast-casual chain, so it's no surprise that they take a lot into consideration when choosing new items for the menu. Items must be replicable in locations across the country. It's that factor that was the stumbling block for what sounds like an incredibly delicious breakfast item, biscuit cinnamon rolls. This lost menu item in question made it to locations for taste-testing, and customers loved the biscuit cinnamon rolls, but it just wasn't meant to be (via The Chicken Wire).

"Even though the recipe was simple, it was surprisingly complex to make across all our restaurants," Chef Christy Cook explains about the yummy indulgence that will never see the inside of our mouths. She added, "Customers loved how it tasted, but because we couldn't prepare it fresh in our restaurant kitchens each morning and get it right every time, we cut it." Sniff. But we guess we have to trust the genius that is behind Chick-fil-A's magical formula, and carry on without the biscuit cinnamon rolls. If only there was a way to get a taste of that goodness at home...

What you missed with Chick-fil-A's biscuit cinnamon rolls

The good news is if you want to reverse engineer your own cinnamon biscuit roll version at home, the chain did describe to some extent what is involved. Rejoice! Essentially, cinnamon, butter, and sugar were rolled into biscuit dough before it was cut into smaller pieces. The biscuit cinnamon bites were then baked and topped with icing. It sounds pretty delicious across the board.

Meanwhile, remember Chick-fil-A cinnamon clusters? These were bite-sized cinnamon rolls baked into a lovely little bouquet of sorts. Unfortunately, this menu item was retired in 2016 after nearly ten years on the menu. Clearly customers just shouldn't look for a sweet and cinnamon-filled breakfast from this chain (via The Chicken Wire).

There are plenty of other menu items that ultimately didn't make the cut, like chicken quesadillas, a rosemary garlic flatbread wrap, and a cranberry orange bagel, though the bagel didn't even make it to taste-testing (via Business Insider).
