Who Makes Costco's Kirkland Signature Hard Seltzers?
Costco's in-house Kirkland Signature brand is known for providing quality products at an affordable price. The label offers everything from toilet paper to alcohol, and some of the items are even made by well-known brands in disguise. You'd think that would be the case with Kirkland's hard seltzers — maybe the original manufacturer would be the same company behind White Claw or Truly — but just like with Costco's Irish Whiskey or Kirkland Signature craft beer, that's not the case here. Costco's Kirkland Signature hard seltzers are manufactured by a company called Patco Brands.
The company is based near San Francisco, and you may recognize some of its products, like Rancho La Gloria, Big Sipz, and Kyla Kombucha, from other grocery chains such as Kroger, Publix, and Walmart. Although Patco Brands doesn't directly advertise that it's the company behind Kirkland Signature hard seltzers, its website does state that it's a "leader in private label beverage development." Further proof appears on the Kirkland box itself, which says the product is made by Patco Brands in the USA using both American and imported ingredients.
Are Costco's Kirkland Signature hard seltzers worth buying?
The hard seltzer market was a nearly $19 billion industry back in 2023, and experts at Grand View Research estimate that it'll exceed $60 billion by 2030. Countless varieties have popped up in liquor and grocery stores, and with all that evolution, it would be fair to assume that Kirkland Signature's offering might get lost in the market. But there's a pretty big reason Costco's store-brand alcohol is so popular regardless of outside options — because of the lower cost. A pack of 24 Kirkland Signature hard seltzers is about $28 at Costco, while White Claw options at other stores like Kroger sell for around $36.
The Kirkland Signature pack comes with two dozen 12-ounce cans of hard seltzer in lime, mango, raspberry, and black cherry flavors. Each can is 5% ABV and includes ingredients like carbonated water, alcohol, cane sugar, and natural flavors. While other brands may offer wider variety, Costco's version has some dedicated fans. Some reviewers on Reddit say the cans are "light and refreshing," and others who admit to drinking them "religiously" say the 24-pack is a great deal. After a 2025 design refresh that swapped the original grapefruit flavor for raspberry, some Costco members on Reddit were disappointed, but others report that the raspberry flavor "slaps."
