Dunkin's Spicy New Halloween Donut Is Turning Heads

As we lean into these fall these days and get ready for the tricks and treats of the Halloween season, Dunkin' has a donut to match every fall theme. From apple cider donuts to those decorated festively for Halloween, your favorite coffee and donut chain is on it.

One crowd-pleaser, the Spider Donut, is back this year, too. If you don't remember it from last year, it's a ring donut coated in dark orange icing. It has a glazed chocolate Munchkin in the donut hole to be the spider's body and piped chocolate icing legs on the ring donut to complete the look. Then the eyes are dotted onto the Munchkin with white or orange icing. It couldn't be any cuter, and it's two treats in one. And everyone loves a free bonus treat (via Yahoo).

Dunkin' is releasing a brand new donut this year, though, and it's getting a lot of attention. Apart from its ghoulish name, it's equal parts trick and treat for customers, thanks to the heat it packs.

What you need to know about the Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut

The newest addition to the Dunkin' menu is the Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut. It's a ring donut that's made with the very hot ghost pepper and coated in fine, red sanding sugar. If you're not familiar with the ghost pepper, it can reach one million Scoville Heat Units, compared to Tabasco, which ranges between 2,500 and 5,000 SHUs. That's pretty hot (via My Recipes).

The donut even comes with a strawberry dipping icing, which is pretty different from most of the chain's donuts. It might provide you with some sweet relief, but chances are you'll want to have some milk on hand apart from what's in your coffee. Though this sweet and spicy donut hit some stores early, it's officially scheduled to be in stores on October 14, according to Yahoo. So, you'll definitely want to head out to try it yourself soon.

But if spicy isn't your thing, you'll have plenty of other spooky seasonal donuts to choose from. The Vanilla Frosted donut will have Halloween sprinkles, while the Boston Kreme and Double Chocolate donuts will be served up with a dark orange icing drizzle. No matter which flavor you love most, there's something festive in store for you.
