Taco Bell Just Brought Back This Popular World Series-Themed Deal

There are very few pastimes that are more beloved than that of baseball and eating tacos, though maybe you don't necessarily associate the two together. History states that baseball (or at least something resembling baseball) can be dated all the way back to the 18th century in the United States. This American pastime is said to have been inspired by a combination of the children's game rounders and the sport cricket. Like any sport, participants in the game are bound to build up quite the appetite after several innings — and why not satisfy those hunger pangs with a delicious taco or two?

Like baseball, eating tacos has a long history in the US, as the hand-held food was introduced in 1905, according to Twisted Taco. It's no wonder that America's favorite Mexican restaurant — at least according to a survey reported on by People – has decided to yet again merge these two iconic pastimes for their upcoming promotion (via Delish). Taco Bell has announced that they will be running their "Steal A Base, Steal A Taco" promotion for the 2020 MLB World Series.

How to score a free taco from Taco Bell

Taco Bell is promising to give away one free Doritos Locos Taco, no questions asked, so long as one of their MLB Baseball Taco Heroes steals a base during this year's World Series. So, how do you know what it takes to become a Taco Hero? Delish explains any player can be given this honorable designation if they are the first one to successfully steal a base during the World Series. Once said base has been stolen, Taco Bell will proceed to gift all Americans with one free Doritos Locos Taco.

This year, baseball fans and taco lovers alike will receive an added bonus, as they will be able to collect their free taco sooner than ever before. QSR Magazine reports that fans will be able to get their free taco within hours of the first base being stolen by this year's Taco Hero. All anyone wishing to participate needs to do is sign up for the Taco Bell rewards program, where they will be able to access their own code through the Taco Bell app, according to Delish. For those who don't want to sign up for the program, so long as a base is stolen, they will have the ability to walk into their local Taco Bell and receive one free Doritos Locos Taco on October 28th, while supplies last.
