Read This Before Trying The Seasonal Danish Pastry Trader Joe's Fans Are Obsessed With

One of Trader Joe's fan favorite holiday desserts is back on the grocery chain's shelves, but unfortunately there's a major catch. Trader Joe's spotting Instagram account @traderjulies recently posted about the return of the Kringle, a sweet, fresh-baked holiday pastry sold in TJ's locations around the country every year. Made by O&H Bakery in Wisconsin, the pastry is a super popular choice — it even won the Best Bakery item title in Trader Joe's annual Customer Choice Awards one year (via The Kitchn). If you've never heard of a Kringle, it's a ring-shaped multi-layered pastry that's frosted and filled with any number of fillings, and fans are absolutely obsessed.

Unfortunately this year, this buttery deliciousness could be putting you and your family in serious danger. If anyone in your household is allergic to pecans, be sure to check the batch code on your Kringle package — the five-digit number listed on the back, right above the ingredients on the right. If it's batch number 26720, there might be some undeclared pecans in there, according to Trader Joe's recall announcement.

Should you be worried?

The recall only affects almond-flavored Kringles bought at Trader Joe's locations in Alabama; Arkansas; Colorado; Wichita, Kansas; Louisiana; New Mexico; Oklahoma; Germantown, Tennessee; and Texas. The recall announcement says all the Kringles from the batch affected have been taken off the shelves, so you're free to go and buy yourself one of these delicious pastries without fear.

They Kringles are available at Trader Joe's for $7.99 each (via Instagram). According to redditor u/woahwoahwoats, the almond flavor is usually available during the winter, raspberry during early summer, pumpkin during fall, and pecan during the spring, so buy one soon if you want to try the almond variety before it's gone.

If you did happen to buy one of the Kringles from batch 26720 and there's an allergy risk, you can return it for a full refund at any Trader Joe's store. If you've got questions, call the grocery chain's customer relations line at (626) 599-3817 or email them through the site's Contact Us form.
