Here's Everything You Need To Know About The New Season Of Spring Baking Championship

Spring Baking Championship is back for a seventh season this year with 10 new episodes of spring-themed desserts, just as your winter blues hit. Luckily, you can pick yourself up in February with the joys of watching other people bake under pressure and a new round of delicious treats on the Food Network series. It will be hosted by returner Ali Khan, known for the Cooking Channel show Cheap Eats, and judged by Kardea Brown, Nancy Fuller, and Duff Goldman.

Similar to the structure of the mother of all baking shows, The Great British Bake Off, contestants will enter a "Spring Baking Tent." Each episode, they'll be asked to execute two rounds of spring-themed creations: think baby animal-inspired treats, flower-crown cakes, and Easter marshmallows (via Food Network). They kick off the season with a two-hour special, and judges will narrow down the 11 amateur bakers until the finale, where three contestants will compete to stay on for the "pre-heat" and "main heat" rounds and a champion will be named.

What fans can expect this season on Spring Baking Championship

According to a press release from the Food Network, this season's challenges include farm-stand themed desserts, a cow-centric sweet, treats fit for a spring marriage proposal plate, campfire desserts, and a dish that features songbirds. They'll also be asked to execute a summery dessert with ice cream, fruit, and cookies and to celebrate "the joys of the garden, and the critters within, as the competitors make lush spring garden cakes with a surprise design element inside" in the finale.

So who will take home the spring crown, plus $25,000 and a spot inĀ Food Network Magazine? Only the springiest baker will prevail. You can watch the Spring Baking Championship on the Food Network or the new streaming service discovery+ every week, with the season premiere airing on Monday, February 22nd at 9 p.m. Who knows? Maybe you'll be inspired to whip up your own flowery, colorful concoction to beat those winter chills.
