Trader Joe's Fans Are Obsessed With These Vegan Vanilla Cupcakes
Trader Joe's is a haven for delicious food items that can't be found anywhere else. They are also a great place to find unique products that satisfy a number of dietary restrictions, and just recently, they have added even more variety to their vegan dessert offerings. They are now selling vegan vanilla cupcakes, topped with a sweet vanilla frosting and rainbow sprinkles, priced at only $3.99 for a four-pack. The popular Instagrammer @traderjoesobsessed posted the news to their account, telling their followers: "These would make a lovely addition to any bday party or upcoming Valentine's celebration. I just tried one (in my car) and it's actually really good and not dry. The frosting is a little sweet but it makes the cupcake so pretty especially the sprinkles."
Many Trader Joe's fans were excited to see the supermarket continuing to expand their variety of vegan desserts, like @raffy5392, who posted: "Vegan!!! My daughter is allergic to eggs I'm so excited you have these!" "Trader Joe's is on fire lately," user @targetgems concurred.
Trader Joe's vegan vanilla cupcakes are not gluten free
However, many customers expressed their disappointment that these were not gluten-free as well. "Can they make one vegan AND gf??" user @ivaaannaaa_ asked. While we can hope that it's somewhere in the works, Trader Joe's does also offer a gluten-free chocolate cupcake, which was welcome news for many customers. "So excited for more GF options. Let's hope they keep coming out with more," follower @sabrinaccooney wrote. This cupcake is made with gluten-free chocolate and topped with a deliciously sweet buttercream frosting, but shoppers should be aware that this version is not vegan, via @traderjoeslist.
Shoppers should also be warned that, like most cupcakes, both varieties contain their fair share of sugar and calories, a fact that Instagram user @mmoore6734 pointed out. "I would recommend reading labels. These aren't the healthiest ingredients," she wrote.
Each vanilla cupcake packs 260 calories, 36 grams of carbs, and 25 grams of sugar, via @traderjoesobsessed. The gluten-free chocolate cupcakes are even more sugar and calorie-laden, with 340 calories, 51 grams of carbs, 16 grams of fat, and 41 grams of sugar packed into a single cupcake, according to What's Good At Trader Joe's. So while neither the chocolate or the vanilla cupcake is a low-calorie health food, they both make a tasty treat for anyone with diet restrictions to enjoy in moderation.
