This Is How Long Coffee Cake Takes To Go Bad

Coffee cake can be the perfect evening snack as you sip on your cup of tea and take a few moments to slow down and unwind. According to iFoodTV, coffee cake has been around for a long time, first making its appearance back in the 17th century in Europe. Coffee cake, as we now know it, is today a sweet dessert made of delicious ingredients like nuts, raisins, fruits, and cinnamon powder.

As per a recipe by Taste of Home, all you need is about an hour and a half to prepare the perfect batch of coffee cake. However, one of the most common mistakes associated with baking coffee cake is not taking the time to ensure that you've mixed your batter well. So be sure to spend some time mixing the ingredients well, but don't overdo it. Why? Over-mixing can make the cake tough and that's not what you want or need.

Be mindful of storing coffee cake

When it comes to preparing and storing coffee cake at home, you need to keep a few basic rules in mind. According to the food blog Lil Luna, coffee cake remains edible for about a week if you store it in the fridge in an airtight container. On the other hand, if you're storing the cake in a container on your kitchen counter, it's best to consume the dessert within two days. But if you really want to make your coffee cake last for a long time, store it in the freezer and you'll be good to go for as long as three months.

A Redditor has an extra tip for making coffee taste as good as new the next day. "Put it in an airtight container with a slice of plain white bread," they advised. "Or wrap it in cling film." A smart idea, eh?
