Chipotle Is Sponsoring A Drag Show For Pride Month. Here's How To Watch
The beginning of June officially kicked off Pride Month, which means a month long celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community and some awesome events. Chipotle recently announced two separate occasions in honor of Pride Month, the Chipotle Queen of Pride competition and a special Chipotle Drag Lunch, per a press release. This is the restaurant's first-ever Queen of Pride event, which will be a competition between drag queens Trixie Mattel, Kim Chi, and Gottmik.
Taking place from June 1 to June 16, each queen will also have their go-to orders highlighted on the app and website. Each entrée purchase will give $1 to a LGBTQIA+ charity of their choice, up to a maximum of $15,000 per charity. Wait, there's more. The winning drag star with the most orders will receive an additional $10,000 to donate to their selected charity. The go-to Chipotle orders include the Trixie Mattel Pride Burrito, the Kim Chi Pride Bowl, and the Gottmik Pride Salad.
Here's how you can participate
The Chipotle Drag Lunch will be held on June 13, and will be hosted on Trixie Mattel's youtube channel and feature Kim Chi and Gottmik. The press release explains that, "The fierce trio will perform comedic bits, showcase their Chipotle-fied looks, provide info on their charity partners, talk up their go-to Chipotle orders, and banter about the Queen of Pride competition." In addition to these amazing events, the burrito chain has paired up with the Trevor Project to support suicide prevention and crisis intervention for the young pride community.
From now until June 16, customers can round-up to the next dollar amount on the Chipotle app or website in order to donate. The brand has already raised nearly $7 million for underdeveloped communities. "For more than 27 years, authenticity, diversity and inclusion have been core principles of Chipotle," said Chris Brandt, chief marketing officer for Chipotle. "As a longtime supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community, we're excited to leverage our real food to help drive real, positive change."
