Air Fryer Corn Ribs Recipe
Corn is a great side dish for any occasion, but the thing that most comes to mind when we think of this fun and healthy side is a barbecue because, let's be honest, grilled corn is fantastic and it goes well with burgers.
But since most of the world experiences colder climates in the fall and winter, it's not always feasible to use a grill to cook corn, and that's a huge bummer. If you have an air fryer, however, you don't need to worry about a thing. With the help of this magical kitchen device, you can make incredible corn ribs that taste even better than charred corn on the grill. Trust us, you will believe it once you try it!
Recipe developer Susan Olayinka came up with this tasty recipe that is filled with exquisite flavors. "It's so simple and different," she shares. "I love the way it's shaped and because it's split into four, it means the corn lasts longer!"
What are you waiting for? Keep reading to find out how to make this fantastic corn.
Gather the ingredients
Before you begin making this wonderful side dish, you need to ensure that you have all the right items.
It's no secret that you will need four ears of corn, which serve as the main ingredient in this recipe. In addition, add a few spices to your list, including paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, oregano, and black pepper. If you cook a lot, you may already have a few or all of these on hand.
You will also need some extra-virgin olive oil. Once you have all of the ingredients in front of you, you may begin.
Slice the corn
Are you ready to make some air fryer corn? Begin the recipe by grabbing your shucked corn and placing it on the counter in front of you. At this time, you can also get out a cutting board and sharp knife. First, cut the corn vertically in half and then slice the half into quarters. This transforms your corn from full ears to corn ribs.
Olayinka provided a helpful tip for slicing: She recommends using a sharp knife to stab the corn and then make a rocking motion for the blade to slide down the corn. This ensures an easy and even cut.
Mix the marinade
After you have finished cutting your corn, it's time to make the tasty marinade that goes on it. This flavorful marinade will add plenty of flavor to the corn, and it will also help it to cook in the air fryer.
Take out a small bowl and sprinkle in the paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder. You can also pour in the olive oil at this time. The olive oil is excellent as it helps the corn get nice and brown. The last items to add to the bowl are the salt, oregano, and black pepper. Mix everything until it's well-incorporated.
Brush the corn with the marinade
Now that your mixing is done, it's time to add the spiced oil to the corn. Use a pastry brush and brush the corn with the yummy marinade. You can also use a spoon if you don't have a pastry brush. Be sure to cover all parts of the corn, ensuring it's coated with flavor. Then, take out your air fryer and line the tray with parchment paper.
Place the corn ribs on the tray and then push the tray back into the air fryer base. You want to bake the corn ribs at 400 F for 12 minutes. Be sure to flip each piece halfway through at the six-minute mark.
Serve the corn
Once your 12-minute timer goes off, the corn is done. Yahoo! We did it!
Take the corn out and either put it on a tray or a plate to serve. There are plenty of main dishes to go with this yummy side. Olayinka specifically recommends serving this with "a protein like grilled chicken, or grilled steak." We also think that it would go great with a barbecue-themed meal like a cheeseburger or a hot dog. If you're a vegetarian, this would also be great to accompany a kebab or veggie dog.
We hope you enjoy this corn as much as we do!
