Kate Spade's New Collection Pays Tribute To This Iconic NY Snack

Who doesn't love Kate Spade? From handbags to cell phones cases to shoes, the stylish but affordable brand carries products with classic, colorful designs that will never go out of style. The late Kansas-born designer famously started her namesake brand because she couldn't find any handbags that appealed to her from other brands. "I was looked for something that could be less serious. More personal," Spade shared in an interview with The Boston Globe. "I also wanted timelessness."

Spade launched her fashion company with her future husband, Andy, in 1993. The company has come a long way in the last 28 years, and was most recently bought by Coach, Inc. for $2.4 billion dollars in 2017, per Celebrity Net Worth. While the successful designer tragically passed away in 2018, her legacy lives on through her flourishing brand.

Now known as Kate Spade & Company, the beloved brand is currently celebrating New York fashion week with an "I Love NY" capsule collection. This all-new collection pays tribute to the company's hometown by showcasing New York City's most distinguished icons — including the edible ones.

Pretzel lovers can purchase four themed items from Kate Spade's new collection

New York City is associated with countless imagery, from pizza to MetroCards. But when it comes to food, nothing is more iconic than the New York City pretzel. In fact, Spoiled NYC notes the Big Apple has been considered the pretzel hub of the world for the last 75 years. So it's unsurprising that this salty snack is featured on not just one, but multiple items in Kate Spade's New York-themed collection. Pretzel fans can purchase a keychain, wallet, and three different earrings that pay homage to this salty street-cart snack, plus a delicate pendant and a pair of embroidered suede loafers. Perhaps the best part about all the pretzel-themed items are the salt granules on each pretzel design, which are composed of glistening crystals.

The collection features 56 items in total, including the noteworthy "I Love NY" Large Tote (via Kate Spade). "There's a magic to New York that can't be found anywhere else," shares Jenny Campbell, the brand's Chief Marketing Officer, tells L'Officiel. "As a brand, we're constantly inspired by our hometown ... This capsule allows us to share our love openly with both our community here in NYC, and around the globe."
