The Least Popular Thanksgiving Food Is What We Suspected All Along

As the countdown to Thanksgiving begins, people across the nation are looking forward to the classic traditions that come with the favorite holiday. From turkey trots and mid-day naps to the Macy's parade and football games galore, there are so many things to love about the fourth Thursday of November. And to top it all off for passionate homebodies, Thanksgiving is one of the few days a year when you don't even need to leave the house.

However, no one can deny that the best part about Thanksgiving is the mountainous piles of delicious food. With homemade gravy, green bean casserole, brussels sprouts, and pumpkin pie, Thanksgiving dinner is truly the gift that keeps on giving. While every family has its own holiday traditions, most people can find common ground on a menu of stuffing, mashed potatoes, and, of course, turkey. Despite all the yumminess, there are definitely some staple dishes that people prefer over others on the big day.

Some people wouldn't be mad if we got rid of cranberry sauce

With Thanksgiving less than two weeks away, people are already picking out recipes for the biggest feast of the year. But before you get too married to your menu, you might want to think twice before whipping up a certain Thanksgiving side. According to a survey conducted by The Vacationer, many people feel that cranberry sauce could go bye-bye on Thanksgiving without being missed, with 29.9% of voters ranking cranberry sauce as the Thanksgiving food they dislike the most.

That's not the only survey with cranberry-averse results: In a 2019 survey conducted by Harris Poll, 29% of Americans said that they dislike the sweet and sour condiment but still eat it anyway, per Today. What's more, a whopping 46% of respondents revealed that they find canned cranberry sauce to be "disgusting." If you were planning on putting canned cranberry on your dinner table this year, you might want to cut your losses and skip it altogether.

More surprisingly, there was a close runner-up in the Vacationer poll for the least favorite Thanksgiving food, and it was none other than the star of the meal itself: the turkey, which got 28% of the votes, mostly from people ages 18 to 29. Will the Thanksgiving feasts of the future not feature roasted turkey as the centerpiece? Only time will tell!
