What Makes The Cast Of Kids Baking Championship Season 10 Unique

Cooking competition shows are definitely not few and far between; among some of the most famous are "Top Chef," "MasterChef," and "Beat Bobby Flay," to name a few. Amateur and famed chefs alike compete regularly for a chance to show off their prowess in the kitchen. But they're not always old enough to sample the cooking wine or tall enough to reach all of the shelves: Some of the culinary masterminds featured onscreen are highly talented kids.

Many popular cooking competition shows have created spin-offs starring children as contestants, including "Kids Baking Championship." The show has a dozen hopeful young bakers compete in a 10-week competition, at the end of which one Baking Champion gets a cash prize and a story in Food Network Magazine, per a press release. While the show has had nine other seasons, Season 10 is already proving to set itself apart from the rest based on one big difference with the cast.

This cast is the youngest yet

Evidently, the saying that "age is just a number" applies to young bakers, some of whom are accomplishing more in the kitchen at a single-digit age than many adults manage in their entire lives! How do we know? According to Food Network, Season 10 of "Kids Baking Championship" features the youngest group of bakers to ever compete on the series. This is saying something, as previous seasons have cast talent between the ages of 10 and 13 (via IMDb).

This time around, however, the pastry prodigies are as young as 8 and as old as 11, and they come from cities across the United States from Huntington Beach, California, to Knoxville, Tennessee. Courtney White, president of Food Network and streaming food content at Discovery Inc., called the bakers the show's "most adorable and impressive yet," reads a press release. "I was stunned to see what an 8-year-old can create and know viewers will be too," she added.
