Neil Patrick Harris is widely known for his role as Barney Stinson in the beloved CBS romp "How I Met Your Mother," but the man is more than a sitcom star. He took home a Tony after lighting up the stage in the Broadway rendition of John Cameron Mitchell's "Hedwig and the Angry Inch." He shined in the animated and puppet-filled worlds of "The Smurfs" and "The Muppets" respectively. And now he's turning heads in the new Netflix comedy "Uncoupled." But for all his multi-hyphenate talents, there's one accomplishment that's not listed on the actor-singer-writer-producer's resume: professional chef.

David Burtka, on the other hand, who's been in a relationship with Harris for nearly 20 years and married to him for close to a decade (via People), has made a name for himself not just as an actor and Broadway star, but also as a successful cookbook author and food celeb. After studying at Le Cordon Bleu, Burtka went on to host the Cooking Channel show "Celebrity Dish," which led to guest appearances in the kitchens of legends like Ina Garten, not to mention the release of his 2019 cookbook "Life Is a Party." Now, Burtka is embarking on his next cooking adventure — this time with his husband and kids in tow.

The pair has teamed up with HelloFresh for a limited-edition recipe series

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka have teamed up with subscription-based meal-kit company HelloFresh for a limited-edition recipe series available now through September 4, according to an email shared with Mashed. In a promotional video for the partnership, Burtka hands over the dinner torch to Harris who, though not the household's usual cook, uses the kit's pre-measured ingredients and step-by-step instructions to whip up a beef tenderloin with brown-butter roasted vegetables. "Our lives move a million miles a minute so finding time together as a family or with our friends — ideally over a meal — is super important to us," said Harris.

Back in 2016, Burtka told People, "We cook everything with our family." According to Harris, they liked to get fresh food from farmer's markets. Their twins, Harper and Gideon, contributed in the kitchen as well, excelling at making cookies and cupcakes. With their own young kids in mind, the "family-friendly" HelloFresh recipes include dishes like cheesy chicken and bean enchiladas with tomato rice, pico de gallo, and lime crema as well as grilled steak and asparagus salad with farro, mushrooms, and lemony ricotta. In addition to the recipe series, fans can look out for "vlog-style content" on social media starring the couple and their kids.
