Experience

Cara joined Static Media as news editor at Mashed in 2026. The granddaughter of Italian-immigrant grocers, she learned early on that food is a love language that connects people, whether generationally through treasured family recipes or by breaking bread with friends and neighbors. Her career spans writing feature magazine articles about the Gilded Age cottages of the Berkshire Hills, local and consumer automotive pieces at the Detroit Free Press; covering arts and culture for the News & Record in Greensboro, North Carolina, as well as writing and editing books through The History Press. Most recently, Cara was editor of edibleWOW, Metro Detroit's food magazine.

Education

Cara has a bachelor's degree in comparative literature from Simon's Rock of Bard College, and a master's degree in magazine publishing from the Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University.
