Dating back several centuries, the now-beloved pizza was born. Cheesy and meat-based flatbreads in Armenia, Greece, and Ancient Rome inspired the masterpiece food staple that we all know and love today (via Online Etymology Dictionary). When those pizza cravings hit (and don't pretend that they don't, even at 3 a.m.) and you finally take a bite into a cheesy, greasy slice of pizza, it can be heaven on Earth. According to Soocial, an average of 350 slices of pizza are eaten in the United States every second, with a rough total of $14 billion spent on pizza delivery in 2020 alone.

The incredible thing about pizza is that it's so versatile. The classic cheese and pepperoni-topped pizza has transitioned through the years into outlandish and creative new flavors. It turns out that basically anything deemed edible can be made a pizza topping, including the highly debatable pineapple. Maybe anchovies are your thing or even dill pickles. The round look of pizza can be up for debate, too, coming in all shapes and sizes. We're never one to judge the look of a pizza from the outside, only from the inside of our tastebuds.

The newest pizza creation? Pizza skulls.

Celebrate Dia de Los Muertos and Halloween with pizza skulls

Want to spice up your Dia de Los Muertos and Halloween food party offerings? TikTok strikes again by offering foodies some of the best food hacks and recipes to try. In a video posted by the Food Network, users were left shaken, but in a good way, by the easy-to-make pizza skulls. Captioned "The SKULLtimate Snack," the video details a simple 15-second video on how to make the spooky creations. Food Network even went ahead and linked the recipe for people at home.

According to Food, simply preheat your oven to 400 degrees and spray a skull mold with nonstick spray. Using pre-made or homemade no-knead pizza dough, stretch it over the skull molds and add your toppings. Get creative with it, including your favorite cheeses, meats, and veggies. Don't forget the pizza sauce either! The recipe also calls for a sprinkle of Italian seasoning which can be optional. Simply bake in your oven for 20 minutes and serve with your choice of dipping sauce. Enjoy the fun with this spooky treat by pulling apart the mouth of the skull, revealing melted, cheesy goodness. "I just got this pan. Cant wait to make these!" one TikToker said. "I need this pan!" another user commented.

Try it yourself at home and impress your guests at your next spooky-themed gathering.
