The Only Product You Might Not Be Able To Return At Aldi

We all know the dreaded feeling of going shopping, only to return home and realize we need to return an item. Each store seemingly has its own unique return policy, and it can often be more of a pain to deal with the return than keeping the faulty item. When it comes to grocery stores, Aldi's return policy is pretty generous. Thanks to its "Twice As Nice Guarantee," if a customer is not 100% satisfied with a product, they can return it to an Aldi store for both a full refund and a replacement of the item. The catch is that the item cannot be used and a receipt must be provided. You should hold onto and check your Aldi receipt, but if you throw it away you can still receive money back, in the form of store credit.

Before you think this is a too-good-to-be-true situation, the return policy doesn't cover everything in the store. Non-food Aldi Finds items, like seasonal decor, aren't covered, and alcohol may not be covered as well. Returning alcohol to stores is a bit of a complicated matter since each state has its own laws regarding alcohol returns and refunds. Regardless of where you live, Aldi will not honor the Twice As Nice Guarantee replacement on alcohol, even if your state allows returns or exchanges.

Buy alcohol you know you like

If you purchase a bottle of wine or beer and your state does allow the return of alcoholic beverages, you can return it to Aldi with a receipt for a full refund — just not a replacement as well. You'll have to take the extra step of processing the return with a store manager to make sure the item in question can be refunded. Depending on state law, Aldi's generous return policy gives customers 90 days to return items for a full refund. If your state doesn't allow the return of alcohol, at least you'll have something to help drown your sorrows.

When it comes to returning alcohol, Aldi isn't the only store where it gets complicated. Returning alcohol to Costco is nearly impossible for the exact same reason. If state law says you cannot return or exchange alcoholic beverages, there's nothing you can do. If you're going to be purchasing alcohol where it's unlikely you can return, it's safer to buy something you have a good chance of liking. Luckily, Aldi has a large selection of beer, wine, and hard beverages to choose from. If you have the hankering to try something new, Aldi has a large selection of $15 and under wines. That way, even if you don't enjoy it, you're not out an arm or a leg.
