The New McDonald's Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry Is Swirling Up Division

If you've been to McDonald's recently, you've likely seen signs for the new Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry. Perhaps you even ordered one. It includes vanilla ice cream, strawberry-flavored clusters, and bits of crispy, buttery shortbread cookies. Sounds good, right? Unless you hate strawberries. Or ice cream. Or shortbread.

Just as with many other new flavors and items at a fast food restaurant, taste-testers have been sharing their thoughts on the McFlurry on social media. You'll find videos of people trying it for the first time and giving their feedback, along with other reviews as comments only.

You won't find a single product at any fast food restaurant that everyone loves, and McDonald's Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry is no exception. Between YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, and other social media platforms, the reviews on the new sweet treat are more mixed than the ingredients (according to some reviews). Wink, wink. Some liked it. Others hated it. And some modified it to improve it.

A super good, off-the-charts, fine dessert to some ...

Let's talk about the promo photos of McD's Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry, shall we? The one on McDonald's' website shows the toppings dispersed from top to bottom, with what appears to be a pretty generous amount, but as you know, you can never trust a photo.

TikToker @munchwithdes experienced this disappointment with her taste test. Her McFlurry included the clusters and cookies at the top only, like you'd expect in a sundae, but she compensated for the shortage by mixing in a McDonald's Strawberry & Creme Pie. The verdict? She described the McFlurry as "super good" (even before adding the pie), despite getting limited toppings.

Marvo from The Impulsive Buy had a taste, too, and liked it, but wondered why strawberry syrup wasn't used. And unlike @munchwithdes, Marvo's McFlurry had a "plentiful" amount of clusters, but added that "the shortbread cookies were a bit of a letdown." Overall though, they described it as "a fine dessert."

YouTuber @Peep THIS Out! also enjoyed it. With the first bite, he said, "Oh my God. The crunchy goodness, the cookies, the strawberry ... those clusters ... Wow. This is crazy good, guys." He described the flavor as "off the charts," but he felt it didn't top the Oreo McFlurry.

... but a nasty, forgettable, disappointing dessert to others

Twitter user @skinclasshero's McFlurry photo shows large chunks of clusters and cookies, much larger than the previous reviews, but that didn't matter. She still thought it was nasty, but she didn't say why. Another Twitter user, @NiasiaMarie, also didn't care for it. She gave it a 0 out of 10 because "it didn't give the same taste as the ice cream jawn from Good Humor."

A PennLive Patriot-News writer made the Good Humor comparison as well. But since they found those ice cream bars to be "bland in comparison" to other ice creams, they described the McFlurry as "a little forgettable, as far as special, limited-time-offer desserts go." The writer also compared it to Wendy's Peppermint Frosty and said the McFlurry was "less exciting." The final rating? 2 out of 5.

TikTok user @dodgerbabe329 reviewed the McFlurry with her son. Her son immediately gave it an 8 out of 10, but later added that it "has too much crunch" and "too much sugar." A bit interesting for a child to say, but okay. His mother said it was "A'ight" and "tastes stale." She captioned the video, "Sadly disappointed."

So there you have it. Some taste testers loved it. Others weren't impressed. If you haven't tried it yet to form your own opinion, you're running out of time. The McDonald's Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry will only be available temporarily.
