The Single Most Overpriced Item On Wendy's Menu

When you go to a fast food restaurant, you expect cheap prices regardless of what you order. These low numbers can feel like a great deal, but some items have a much better value than others. We pored over Wendy's menu to figure out the best way to order depending on your price range — and hunger level.

Fast Food Menu Prices lists the cost of the six-piece regular or spicy chicken nuggets as $1.79. This comes out to roughly $0.30 per nugget, which seems like a pretty great deal until you compare it with the four-piece regular or spicy chicken nuggets, which will run you $0.99 total — when calculated out, this option will cost you a smidge under a quarter per nugget.

If the six-piece regular or spicy chicken nuggets were priced at the same rate per nugget as the four-piece regular or spicy chicken nuggets, it would retail around $1.50, which would actually save you $0.29 per order. For an additional $0.19 though, you can get two more nuggets by purchasing two orders of the four-piece regular or spicy chicken nuggets instead of one order of the six-piece regular or spicy chicken nuggets.

The best and worst ways to order Wendy's nuggets

The absolute best deal on Wendy's regular or spicy chicken nuggets, though, is the 10-piece chicken nuggets combo for $5.99, provided you get the most expensive side (the sour cream & chives baked potato at $2.79) and the soft drink or freshly brewed iced tea drink option ($1.69 for a small).

The 10-piece chicken nuggets combo with the aforementioned side and drink will come out to only around $0.15 per nugget! If the four-piece regular or spicy chicken nuggets were priced the same, they would run around $0.60 per order, and the six-piece regular or spicy chicken nuggets would cost about $0.90 per order.

Upgrading the 10-piece chicken nuggets combo with the most expensive side (sour cream & chives baked potato) to a medium will cost you an extra $0.60, raising the price per nugget to $0.19 each, and upgrading to a large for $1.10 will cost $0.21 per nugget. These combo upgrades give you larger servings of the soft drink or freshly brewed iced tea, so it may be worth the extra pennies.

Make sure you order the correct sides and drink for your combo, or risk losing money

However, the 10-piece chicken nuggets combo is not necessarily always a great deal. If you order this combo with the cheapest side and drink (either the Caesar side salad or the garden side salad, which both cost $1.49 and a Trumoo Milk 1 percent Low-Fat in either white milk or chocolate milk flavor for $1.29,) the 10-piece chicken nuggets combo would cost about $0.32 per nugget.

This is an even worse deal than the six-piece regular or spicy chicken nuggets. If you want to have 10 or more nuggets with a side salad and milk, you would be better off just purchasing three orders of the four-piece regular or spicy chicken nuggets for $0.99 each. This costs $2.79 total, and gives you 12 nuggets for a little under $0.25 per nugget. Ordering three orders of the four-piece regular or spicy chicken nuggets, either side salad, and one Trumoo Milk would bring your total to $5.75, as opposed to the $5.99 the 10-piece chicken nuggets combo runs.
