The Untold Truth Of Alex Guarnaschelli's Fiance

Looks like it's time to pop some bubbly and make a toast. Celebrity chef Alex Guarnaschelli's boyfriend, Michael Castellon, has put a ring on it, literally. The celebrity chef and judge on Food Network's show Chopped took to Instagram on June 20 to share that her boyfriend of four years had proposed to her on her birthday, and her answer was, "You're on!"

In fact, Guarnaschelli said that her fiancé used her naiveté and her love of animals to help craft his humorous and surprising proposal, pulling over into a park and telling her he saw a baby deer (via People). Turns out there wasn't a deer, but a ring; and not just any ring, a beautiful emerald and diamond stunner that is also a family heirloom.

Alex Guarnaschelli was previously married

Guarnaschelli is incredibly accomplished and respected in culinary circles. She studied and worked in France; was crowned the winner on The Next Iron Chef: Redemption in 2012, and she is the executive chef of Butter restaurant in New York City. In addition to her love of food, she also has a great love for all things under the sea. If Guarnaschelli wasn't cooking crustaceans, she said in an interview she would have pursued a career in marine biology (via Food Network).

While we do know that Guarnaschelli was previously married to Brandon Clark and has a daughter, Ava, we don't know much about the bride-to-be's fiancé.

What we know about Michael Castellon

Michael Castellon, who is also known as Chef Mike, has his own claim to fame as a Chopped champion. Additionally, Castellon was on Guy's Grocery Games, and Iron Chef America as Alex's sous chef (via Distractify). Guarnaschelli and Castellon met four years ago when Guarnaschelli was dining out with a friend. The restaurant just happened to be Castellon's. Guarnaschelli was so impressed with the quality of the steak, she said so out loud. "I went in to meet him and tell him the steak was delicious and that was it," she told People.

Meanwhile, Castellon knew he also needed to get Guaranaschelli's daughter Ava's permission before proposing. The bride-to-be said about talking to her 12-year-old after the chat, "I said, 'He asked me to marry him.' And she goes, 'All right. I mean, I guess you can, Mom.'"

Guarnaschelli and Castellon's friends were quick to congratulate the two love birds on social media. Cook Molly Yeh wrote on Instagram, "omg congratulations alex!!!! and what a beautiful ring." Chef Antonia Lofaso, Chef Marcus Samuelsson, and Chef Giada De Laurentiis also offered their best wishes for the happy couple (via The Blast). The Food Network even shared its congratulations.
