Sam's Club may be most famous for bulk buys and bargains, but customers say it's also home to one of the best grocery store alcohol brands. The warehouse chain offers liquors ranging from tequila to vodka to whiskey. But the wine selection — including Member's Mark Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie — is not to be missed. Before you buy a bottle, you may be wondering: Who makes Sam's Club pinot grigio wine?

The wine's label says it's bottled by MGM S.P.A. in Priocca, Italy and imported by Mack & Schuhle, Inc., a top wine distributor based in Florida. MGM is a winemaker and producer that's part of MGM Mondo del Vino. While Sam's club doesn't officially name the pinot grigio's winemaker, MGM may be behind it. However, the DOC Delle Venezie designation on the label confirms it's made in an area near Venice, which is several hours from Priocca by plane.

According to Sam's Club, this pinot grigio boasts notes of white peach, green apple, and lemon, along with a pear-honeysuckle nose and a crisp, dry finish. In a sommelier's ranking of 12 white wines under $20 from Sam's Club, Mashed contributor Hayley Hamilton Cogill called it "one of the best buys price-wise," since the 1.5-liter bottle only costs $8 (although pricing may vary by location). Cogill noted that instead of being robust and complex, this is an "easy-drinking" vino with a "light body, a fresh palate," and low acidity.

Member's Mark pinot grigio from Sam's Club is worth tasting

Pinot grigio is a type of white wine that's famous for its bright, crisp, refreshing profile. It typically features notes of citrus and honeysuckle. Its grapes are mostly grown in Italy, as well as France and the U.S. Ideally served cold, this wine is perfect for pouring alongside briny cheeses, mild cured meats, seafood pastas, raw oysters, citrusy chicken, herby pesto, and plenty of salads and vegetable sides.

The Sam's Club pinot grigio also boasts a DOC Delle Venezie designation, signaling that it's made with grapes grown in a region known for producing stellar pinot grigio. To receive the classification, winemakers must align with strict qualifications set by the Italian government. The wine must also be made with at least 85% pinot grigio grapes. Think of DOC, which stands for "controlled designation of origin" in Italian, as quality assurance. It's another reason why many find this Member's Mark wine a steal.

Countless customers enjoy this pinot grigio. "Delicious, bright, apple finish. Can't believe the price," one Sam's Club reviewer wrote. "It is light, slightly acidic, and very well-balanced. If we were having a party or get-together, I would definitely get this," chimed in another. Fans recommend serving the wine with fish, pasta, or rotisserie chicken, and one shopper claims it makes a great addition to fondue.
