Founded in 1937 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, doughnut chain Krispy Kreme is celebrating its 83rd birthday this Friday, July 17, with a buy one, get one deal that you won't want to miss. According to a statement sent to Mashed, the doughnut company is giving away a free dozen of the chain's iconic Original Glazed doughnuts for one day only with the purchase of a dozen or more doughnuts of any type. Krispy Kreme is also extending its Hot Light hours for the day, which Business Insider states is the company's name for the hours when each store turns on a light indicating to customers they have fresh, warm doughnuts on hand. The Hot Light hours will be extended both earlier in the morning as well as later into the night than Krispy Kreme locations normally offer, giving you extra time to enjoy their doughnuts fresh.

In the statement provided, Chief Marketing Officer Dave Skena said that it is customary for Krispy Kreme to offer fans gifts on the company's birthday each year. This summer, they landed on this specific buy one get one birthday promotion, plus extended hours "because we sure need something sweet to happen in 2020."
