The public knows Gordon Ramsay as the British celebrity chef host of "Hell's Kitchen" and other reality shows in which he harshly criticizes participants who fall short of his standards, like in his most epic "Kitchen Nightmares" meltdowns. He's also a respected professional, netting his restaurants 17 Michelin stars over his career. He has a softer, family-man side too as a father of six children whose ages span 25 years from oldest to youngest. His daughter Holly, the first of the children to get married, tied the knot in December 2025, and his son-in-law, Adam Ramsay-Peaty, is impressively accomplished on his own.
Holly and her twin brother, Jack, are the second-oldest children of Gordon and Tana Ramsay — who actually didn't like Gordon when they first met. A podcaster and influencer, Holly isn't even safe from her father's critiques, as demonstrated in his TikTok bashing her gnocchi-making attempt. She was 25 when she married 30-year-old Adam, and the two are expecting a daughter in December 2026. This is the second child for Adam, who has a young son from a previous relationship.
Adam Ramsay-Peaty is a champion swimmer who's won multiple Olympic medals for Great Britain, set world records for the breaststroke, and received British royal honors for his achievements. Shortly after the wedding, he changed his last name to Ramsay-Peaty to match the same surname Holly adopted. He's also had pop culture moments of his own as a contestant on a British dance-competition TV show and as an author.
He is an Olympic medal-winning swimmer
Adam Ramsay-Peaty has three gold and three silver Olympic medals as a swimmer for Great Britain in three Olympic Games. He won the 100-meter breaststroke in Rio in 2016 and in Tokyo in 2020, and earned the silver in Paris in 2024. He won his third gold in the mixed 4x100-meter relay in Tokyo. His other two silvers came in Tokyo and Rio for the men's 4x100-meter relay.
The eight-time world champion still holds two world-record times for the 50-meter breaststroke, which he set in 2017, and the 100-meter, set in 2019, and is widely considered the best men's breaststroke swimmer ever. He continues to compete and plans to take part in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
In 2019, he co-founded AP Race with his training partner Ed Baxter (now AP Race CEO), to help advance the sport of swimming. Among its activities, the brand runs race clinics, holds competitions, including the AP Race London International, and operates swimming academies in Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and Singapore.
He changed his last name to Ramsay-Peaty after the wedding
Soon after he married Holly, Adam changed his last name to Ramsay-Peaty to include his new wife's surname — with the new name first appearing on his social media accounts and later in competitions, including at the Commonwealth Games. Holly also began using the same hyphenated last name following their nuptials. Although he hasn't publicly called it a contributing reason, Adam speaks highly of his father-in-law, Gordon Ramsay, telling "BBC Breakfast" in April 2026, "[He's] very inspiring. ... I take a lot of guidance. I look up to him a lot." (via BBC).
The moniker change came at a time of ongoing conflict with Adam's own family. He canceled his parents' invitations to the wedding, and his two brothers also didn't attend. Only his sister, who was a member of the bridal party, was there. Problems reportedly came to a head when Holly didn't invite Adam's mother, Caroline, to her "hen do" (the British term for a bachelorette party). Someone The Sun described as a Peaty family source said, "This was the Ramsays' plan all along. They wanted Adam's family gone and they have succeeded."
He is a recipient of OBE and MBE royal honors
In a 2022 ceremony, Princess Anne presented Adam Ramsay-Peaty with the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) award for his achievements and service to swimming and mental health and for positively impacting the U.K. He has spoken about dealing with depression and alcohol abuse, and said that Gordon Ramsay helped him get through those struggles. The honor came five years after he became a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his services to swimming.
During World War I, King George V launched the Order of the British Empire awards to honor contributions by U.K. civilians to the war fight. Of the awards' five classes, MBE and OBE are the fifth- and fourth-highest. Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) is the third. Above them are damehood and knighthood, with the top rank being Dame or Knight Grand Cross.
He competed on 'Strictly Come Dancing' and wrote a book
Adam Ramsay-Peaty isn't a famous TV figure like his father-in-law, but he has stepped outside of swimming and into the pop culture spotlight. In fall 2021, he appeared on the British celebrity competition show "Strictly Come Dancing," essentially the U.K.'s version of "Dancing with the Stars." Alongside his professional dancing partner Katya Jones, he was the sixth contestant voted off.
However, he may have left the show a winner after all, because he met his future wife through fellow contestant (and future sister-in-law) Tilly Ramsay. In fact, he and Jones competed against Tilly and her partner, Nikita Kuzmin, in the elimination dance-off. Although Adam was seeing someone at the time, he remained in touch with Holly. The two began dating in 2023 after his relationship ended.
Around the same time "Strictly Come Dancing" aired, he released his book "The Gladiator Mindset," which provides 10 steps for developing the mental outlook needed to achieve what you doubted you could.
