Mac and cheese is one of those ooey, gooey comfort foods that needs no introduction. Whether you're a store-bought mac and cheese fiend, an out-of-the-box person, or have a family baked mac and cheese recipe passed down through generations, there are plenty of ways to enjoy this pantry staple. "Mean Girls" and "Freakier Friday" star Lindsay Lohan takes her mac and cheese recipe a step further with an unexpected addition: sweet corn.

According to Lohan's blog, she combines one bag of shredded mozzarella cheese, one bag of cheddar cheese, a box of macaroni, and one full can of sweet corn. She seasons the dish with a teaspoon of onion powder and tops it off with breadcrumbs. After 15 minutes of baking, you're left with a crispy yet creamy dish that took minimal ingredients and minimal time to make.

Although you still may be side-eyeing the addition, sweet corn actually elevates the overall flavor profile. The starch from the corn cuts the sharpness and richness of the cheese, adding a touch of sweetness while also balancing out the different tastes.

Lindsay Lohan has an extensive palate

When Lindsay Lohan answered burning questions about food, it became very clear she has an extensive palate, but she also enjoys serving up her own recipes. From savory sauces like her homemade barbecue sauce and pasta salad dressing to sweet treats like her chocolate bark and banana cake, the actor proves she can tackle a film script and a recipe book. Another recipe on her blog is Moulikkyah, a Middle Eastern dish made from jute plant leaves. Lohan adds cilantro and garlic, making the recipe more flavorful, and suggests serving it over roasted chicken.

Although she only has one recipe posted, the actor is a fan of Middle Eastern cuisine. Her husband, Bader Shammas, is from Kuwait, and now the two reside in Dubai, which has expanded her palate even more. On an episode of her podcast, "The Lohdown with Lindsay Lohan," she discussed the authentic, home-cooked meals made by her husband's family, calling them her "happy place foods."
