The Five Guys Menu Item Some Customers Can't Stand

Whether you're looking for a cheeseburger, fries, or a vanilla milkshake to satisfy your fast food cravings, it's likely that you'll find something that appeals to your senses at Five Guys. According to Business Insider, Five Guys even managed to earn a spot as one of the most popular burger chains in the country thanks to its simplicity, array of toppings, and huge portion sizes. The burger chain beat several major competitors such as Burger King, Carl's Jr., McDonald's, Sonic, Wendy'sShake Shack, and even West Coast cult-favorite In-N-Out.

That said, not everyone is entirely pleased with Five Guys, and unhappy diners have taken to the internet to complain about some of the menu options at the popular fast food chain. Over on the Reddit message board r/fastfood, users have occasionally posted about their experiences dining at the restaurant, particularly arguing over one menu item that hasn't appealed to some of them much. Curious? We're spilling the beans!

Five Guys fries aren't too popular

One diner complained on Reddit about paying what they felt was too much for fries that were pretty average, writing "Ate there yesterday for the first time, thought the burger was fine and the fries were pretty mediocre but the price was insane." Another Reddit user promptly shot back, expressing their opinion on Five Guys fries and saying, "Average fast food fries? That's just dishonest to say, they look and taste nothing like McD or BK fries." Replying to this defense of Five Guys, one commenter agreed with the original post, saying they felt their fries from Five Guys always came out "undercooked and soggy," even when they request them well done.

To make matters worse, the fries at Five Guys are some of the most unhealthy options compared to its fast food counterparts. As explained by Taste of Home, just a small portion of these fries will set you back 528 calories and if you go for the large size, you're looking at 1,314 calories and 57 grams of fat — that's more than the amount in five Krispy Kreme doughnuts! Too much, right? For all those calories you could actually get a plain hamburger at Five Guys plus a milkshake. A large order of fries at McDonald's, by the way, will only set you back 490 calories. No kidding! Choose your fries wisely, friend.
